About Me

Majored in Chinese studies, I have a great passion for exploring different cultures, be it Western , Eastern or anything in between. I've spent two years living in China and learning Mandarin and that was the most amazing experience i've ever had... But the life goes on :). Now I'm anticipating the beginning of a new chapter in my life, i.e. doing my Masters in the Netherlands. Hopefully it would be the most challenging, interesting and craziest experience ever!!!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'am quite experienced in budget traveling (backpacking), especially in Europe and East Asia (well, mostly China, so far). I used to count on youth hostels a lot, but I realised, that in spite of being able to make lots of friends among other backpackers, I fail to interact with the locals as much as I'd wish to. Hopefully couch surfing will help to get much deeper insight in local communities and to find a lot more amazing people from all over the world.

Interests

It comes without saying, that I love traveling, no matter it's solo or in group. I am also very into "the culture stuff", like history, philosophy, arts and literature, so really enjoying visiting museums, art galleries and other sights, that are special in that particular space, as well as hiking in the mountain or forest areas.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm mostly into heavy metal, prog rock, hard rock kind of music, but I also enjoy jazz, classical, folk and some kind of electronic or pop.

Mostly Chinese cinema. Odd enough, I haven't seen most of the "must watch" Hollywood movies still, so I am trying to catch up :).

I like great variety of literature, including fantasy, sci-fi, and historical novels and even some poetry.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lived in China for two years while trying to do what the locals do: eating bunch of crazy (but delicious) food, singing KTV, dancing in weird Chinese clubs, traveling with cramped Mao era trains, overpacked with extremely friendly, yet not the always best mannered people and of course, trying to master tons of Chinese characters. 好玩极了!!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can gladly teach you some Lithuanian, my mother tongue, Mandarin Chinese or help you to improve your English if it's an isssue for you. I'm also very keen on learning different languages and always trying get to know at least some words from the local language.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share with you some stories from my crazy experiences. My cooking skills suck, but I can assist you in making food, thus learning something for myself.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Estonia, France, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Norway, Poland, Russian Federation, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
