ABOUT ME

I'm a current student at Concordia College, and I'm studying Biology and English Writing. I'll be graduating in May '12, and heading off on some new adventure--it might be naturopathic med school, or it might be a year or two of service somewhere around the world. I have about a million different interests, from religious diversity to politics and anatomy to travel writing. But I think my greatest interest is people. I love hearing someone's personal philosophy, seeing what makes someone light up, and watching someone become passionate about something.

Other than that, I'm kind of a skinny person who is sometimes funny, usually happy, and always polite. I will show someone who allows me into his/her home the utmost respect. I am addicted to coffee, and I've seen every episode of FRIENDS (more than once).

PHILOSOPHY

Don't waste any time not being yourself. Also, your attitude about anything is 100% under your control.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm just starting with CouchSurfing, but I have met some amazing CS'ers and they have all been pretty awesome people! I'm excited to surf and host!

Intereses

I'm passionate about holistic approaches to medicine, different aspects of food (local, sustainable, healthful, political), good books, discovering new music, environmental sustainability, and seeing other people live out what they're passionate about. I love new experiences, whether that be exploring a new place, trying a new food, or anything else.

Música, películas y libros

Movies: I pretty much love every movie I see. I like everything from The Fountain to Harry Potter to Food Inc.

Music: folksy stuff, classical, jazz, pop on the radio, bluegrass, rap, pretty much everything (country is not my favorite)

Books: Nonfiction (especially involving food!), fiction, memoirs, anything by Colum McCann or Michael Pollan, anything with beautiful imagery, calls to action, or both!

I was in Italy over New Years for a choir trip in high school. At the beginning of the night, our group was sitting apart from the Italians in the venue where we were, but as the night went on we slowly began mingling until we were all dancing together and having a connection without language.

I said hi to Ben Stein at a Starbucks in Sandpoint, Idaho.

I spent the last two summers researching the milfoil weevil in northern Idaho, which means I get to snorkel in lakes, drive a boat around, and write papers and give presentations. It's not what I expected for a summer job, but it's led to some pretty awesome experiences!
