About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To delve into literature and its main source of inspiration

ABOUT ME

That's always the toughest one, as I'm still trying define what I am myself. Anyway I guess I'm a young lad willing to enjoy life gathering interesting experiences to be able to choose sometimes in the future what style of life suits me best. I'm rather chilled out and like to sit in cafes, read books and walk in the cities. Not that I'm after some tourist attractions, I'm rather attracted to places with their own vibe, deserted narrow streets, strange gardens, some crubling towers, that kind of places. In love with the details and combinations of things that are much more than just the sum of the elements.Ah, and I love tramping and sweating just to get on some irrelevant summit!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hosted a host of surfers. Surfed a couple of couches. Been to a couple of CS meetings.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Stayed at other peoples' places multiple times and every single one was amazing- I always came back revived, my faith in humankind restored ;] Then anytime I'd meet an angry shop assistant or rude pedestrian I'd think "that's not what people really are like" and stroll on. Now I cannot picture any other way of staying somewhere for a weekend, CSing is simply too good!

Music, Movies, and Books

Books

Currently in love with Latin American writers: Julio Cortázar, Mario Vargas Llosa, Carlos Fuentes, Jorge Luis Borges, Alejo Carpentier, Juan Rulfo, José Donoso, Gabriel Garcia Márquez. Other writers I like (usually modernists/postmodernists, kind of classics i guess; in no particular order): Albert Camus, Jean Paul Sartre, Franz Kafka, James Joyce, Marcel Proust, Ken Keseym Salman Rushdie, Martin Amis, Fyodor Dostoyewsky, José Saramago, Irvine Welsh, Neil Gaiman, Andrzej Sapkowski, Terry Pratchett, Haruki Murakami.

Music

Hip-hop (American, Polish, French, Spanish, well, German even), jazz, glitch, electronic music (The Knife or Royksopp kind of electronica), chillout.

Movies

French New Wave (Godard, Truffaut), shorts, non-Hollywood movies

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Damn you CS, now you are forcing me to fill all this? I will, when I feel like it damnit.

Teach, Learn, Share

I guess I can try and teach you any of the languages I speak (would probably work best with Polish and English, but we could try a bit of German as well). I ride snowboard pretty well so if we happen to meet in winter near any skiresort I'd be more than happy to teach you how to snowboard. I used to sail, so under the same conditions (lake nearby and some yacht rental available) we could set sail together.

As for the things I'd like to learn: I'm keen to learn all kinds of practical, manual jobs- how to repair boats, grow things, fix stuff... Practicing my poor Spanish could also help :)

Countries I’ve Visited
