My wife and I had three teenagers that we took around the world. We played instruments, juggled, joked, and other things to spread joy and peace. Now we are empty nester, public school teachers.

PHILOSOPHY
I was put here by God to encourage others to love and good deeds. Providing random acts of kindness is my delight.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING:
Stringing together those gap years would have been more difficult without CS. As we have settled down for a while we have opened up our couch for surfers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE:
Back in the early 80s I hitched around the world for about a year. There were plenty of couches and great times, but I found old overgrown cemeteries held the most peaceful "couches". That was then, this is now:

I visited with a blind, cripple beggar on some back street near Lisbon, Portugal. After a while I asked him if he was mad at God about his situation. He repeated an emphatic "no", and started crying. He said his friends and family had abandoned him but not his God. I told him his faith was inspirational and should share his story with others. Fernando said he tries but people are too busy to stop and visit.
