Overview
About Me
I would like to write something cryptic and cool to describe me but unfortunately, I am about as creative as a rock. Born in the 90's, graduated in Psychology but delving into the business world with an MBA which I got a scholarship for. So other than being a bona fide nerd, I am a workaholic who lives at my office at a private university in Kuala Lumpur. I have visited Copenhagen, Prague, Phuket and I have loads more to add to my bucket list.
I am a huge animal lover. Massive! I adore them all, and founded my very own covert animal rescue organisation in Malaysia. To date I have rescued, rehabilitated and rehomed about 20 cats, 40 dogs and 1 juvenile python. I am a classic extrovert and I love meeting new people. To avoid sounding too cliche I am also going to mention that I like talking to inanimate objects such as calculators and I secretly apologise to my food before I eat it.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am on couchsurfing because my preferred mode of travel is off the beaten path. I don't like the idea of cooping myself up in an expensive luxury hotel and not being able to engage with anyone or really see the location from the eyes of a local. Tour guides are the least appealing to me because the last thing I want is to hear a rehearsed version of the places I visit. I want to see new places as they are, to take in the good and the bad, to breathe in the adventure. I live for the advantages of bragging rights and interesting stories to tell at dinners. Travelling to me has to be authentic to be worth it. :-)
Interests
Besides being an avid academic, I love reading classics. From Thomas Hardy to the Bronte sisters to the more contemporary Maya Angelou I have a profound appreciation for the written art forms. I also love being outdoors, and being around animals. But I absolutely despise rides, circuses, zoos, aquariums or any other establishments that exploit animals. I love diving, snorkelling and swimming even though I have an intense fear of large fish.

Music, Movies, and Books
Anything classic: Dickens, Flaubert, etc. etc.
My music and movie preferences are not too complicated, I have a tendency to zero in on dancey tracks and comedies.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I hiked up Mount Kinabalu with ZERO preparation and training, on a dare from a friend. Almost fainted at the peak, but it was so worth it!
Teach, Learn, Share
Although I was born in Malaysia, I have spent my whole life growing up under the influence of my Sri Lankan and South Indian heritage. I love sharing my Malaysian Ceylonese Indian culture with anyone and everyone.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Knowledge of my home country. I am fluent in English, Malay and Tamil. Those looking for any practice with Hindi and Punjabi can also use me as a guinea pig as I am partly fluent in those languages too.
