I'm a Civil Engineer studying at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon. I love traveling. I can't think of a better thing to do in my free time. For me traveling is not about visiting places, it's about forming a bond with places you visit and taking something from them. I not only like to visit places but also like to bond with people and know about the city from its inhabitants.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As I mentioned above about the things I love about traveling, I believe Couchsurfing is the best way to meet natives and learn about the culture, heritage and the people themselves. I also look at it as a way of finding people with shared interests so I can pursue these interests with them.

Interests

As a Civil Engineer, I am interested in big cities but the passionate traveler inside me loves going to small towns and visit natural places because they bring this peace to your mind that is unparalleled. I love hiking and swimming. I recently hiked Grand Teton in Wyoming. Lakes, waterfalls, rivers are all time favorites. Water has an effect on me that I can't explain. I'm also interested in reading and I love reading about health and fitness, psychology, physiology, ways to improve individual and community lives (self help books), history, culture and travel.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all sorts of music and am more than willing to share the beautiful music from my country. I used to watch a lot of movies but now I prefer reading and only occasionally watch a highly recommended movie. My favorite movies are American Beauty, The Batman Trilogy, The Departed, The Untouchables, Les Miserables. I love reading. It's my new found love. I believe there is no better companion than a book. I love reading about self help, psychology, philosophy, fitness and health, traveling, current affairs, history, anthropology and occasionally fiction. My favorite self help book so far has been "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People".

Teach, Learn, Share

I think life is all about learning. Life ends at the time when one gives up on learning. I learn everyday from kids to people who are 40 yrs older than me. I think my experience of living in a new place will be incomplete until and unless I learn about the culture here and there is no better way to learn about culture than by sharing a space with the natives and learning what's important to them. I also love to know about people's view on the biggest problem their country is facing and what could be a possible solution according to them.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook local Pakistani dishes and would love to share these recipes with my host. If there will be sufficient time I can cook these dishes for them, which are innate to South Asia. I have tons of interesting stories to share about my home country. I can help hosts plan their visit to Pakistan.
