About Me

Hi everybody! I´m Barbara and with my boyfriend Pablo we are traveling around Europe on our summer holidays. Buenos Aires is really warm in summer so this year we decided to escape and have a "white Christmas"! we´d like to get to know as much as we can of the old continent and its people.
We love traveling, nature, meeting new places and new people. Each year we try to make a trip to a new place and share with the locals. We enjoy simple meals with good talks… I have to admit that Pablo is quite a good cook, much better than me.
Back home I work on agroecology at University and Pablo is studying economics. We live in a little house with a big backyard where we are starting to grow our own agroecological vegies –at least trying-. Two very handsome cats share the place with us, "Monday" the sweet one and "Sunday" the clever one. We also love dogs and kids!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The memory of each new place visited has its own colors, not only because of nature and the buildings you visit but mostly because of the people you share those moments with. Couchsurfing gives you the opportunity to meet and share with the locals, make memories more memorable, to not be just a tourist!

Music, Movies, and Books

We both love books, and reading them when we can... why when we can? Well... Pablo usually buys books in languages we haven't learned yet, but having them probably makes us learn them quicker, or at least that’s his excuse to buy them.
My favorite books? mmm it depends on my mood, I've been changing quite a lot since my first book, Cadichon... My parents had a Robbin Hood collection and my favorite ones were those about pirates! Then I was a big fan of Harry Potter, I read every book many times hoping for the next one to be publish quickly! Afterwards more pirates and romantic novels and suddenly I went into a different road, George Orwell, Aldous Huxley, Herman Hesse, I really liked Stephen Gould's, however every now and then I tend to go back to pirates or murder/detective staff (also fan of Sherlock Holmes), and I can't help it! Almost the same happens with movies...
Pablo’s favorite authors are Dostoyevski, Tolstoi, Pesoa, Fante, Allan Poe, among others.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

-To be alive :)
-To cross the 'Sierras Grandes de Córdoba' on horseback with my uncle in my 21st birthday, cold nights but wonderful views and sensations.
-To cross the Andes Mountains trekking with Pablo taking our non-specialized equipment and around 30 kg of handicap!!! We had a great tent but it weight around 5 kg!!!
-Hitchhiking around New Zealand. We’ve hitchhiked quite a lot in Argentina and Chile and I definitely recommend doing it in New Zealand!!! Super friendly people, we never spent more than 10 minutes waiting and something incredible was that while we were headed to Taupo from Napier we ended doing the Tongariro crossing with the driver and her daughter that also invited us to their house!!
-We spent a whole night walking around Toulouse!!! Cero grades and again with our heavy backpacks... Great experience!!! We had great after 2 a.m. conversations with some ‘Toulousien characters’. By the way, we never found the kebab street vendor…

Teach, Learn, Share

I enjoy teaching and I consider that learning is a great part of our life as individuals and as humanity. We will always be learning and there will always be something we don't know, that's also what makes life so exciting!
Share... We are social beings, we can enjoy little moments on our own, but at the end of the day it's sharing with our people what gives sense to our life.
