About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Living in the present moment.

Hello

I'm an illustrator and textile artist from Slovenia. I have a huge desire for travel and different cultures. I think we can learn a lot from people with other backgrounds and help widen horizons. And at the same time honor our own traditions. You can find on the top of the bucket list Japan, Scotland, Chile and Iceland. What sparks my fire the most though is illustration/art and reading.

I could sum up the philosophy of my life in this little poem I wrote: (it is written in Slovenian, so I think it is best to start learning Slovenian ;))

Hvala reki, da odnaša smeti življenja

za vse tvoje vrtince, zavoje

Hvala ti za ravne tokove.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I would love to share informations and tour in our lovely city Ljubljana. And meet people, listen to their stories. Just connect with people!

Interests

Lurking in the science world, history, poetry, social justice, spending time in nature, observing solar systems and Japan (everything about it), zero gravity, bumping into things due to my body not conforming to gravity laws.

Music, Movies, and Books

There are so many great books and music that I could list. My favorite writers must be J.R.R. Tolkien, Bill Bryson, Arthur C. Clarke, Jane Austen, Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Orhan Pamuk, Thích Nhất Hạnh and many more. I think Neil Gaiman sums it up really well.

“Short stories are tiny windows into other worlds and other minds and other dreams. They are journeys you can make to the far side of the universe and still be back in time for dinner.”
― Neil Gaiman

This could also apply to music. I think for every moment there is this perfect song that can explain everything. You just have to listen. But some song stay with you for your whole life. I enjoy songs from Jorge Ben Hor, Radiohead, Fleet foxes, Nick Drake, Allah-las, Piero Piccioni. Basically jazzy beats, classical music with a spice of folk and rap (that is confusing I know). Oh and the 60's!

Watching movies from Akira kurosawa, Stanley Kubrick, inspiring from artists such as Maira Kalman, Matisse, Frankenthaler Helen. One of my favorite movies are Princess Mononoke and The joy luck club.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Swimming in the spring of a river and then hiking to the top of a mountain.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can teach you some basic Japanese, prepare good Slovenian food like Žganci and Štruklji (it tastes better than it sounds), explain superstring theory the artistic way, take you to some great places in Slovenia like a cave that looks like Moria and it has the fatal bridge where Gandalf couldn't make it. So we can reenact this scene. Just don't fall into the gulf please. Ok maybe, we will just pass the bridge and reenact the scenes where we eat lembas.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Croatia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Spain, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In
