About Me

My name is Eric Daly, I am a certified Refrigeration Mechanic who is looking for a change! I have done my fair share of travelling over the past few years, and am now setting my eyes on the United States. I've spent plenty of time in the Western States but haven't spent any time East of the Interstate-15, with the exception of Atlanta, which was a great way to experience the south.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The goal for this roadtrip is to see and do as much as possible between Salt Lake City, Utah and Everglades, Florida, and everywhere in-between! For a trip of this style it will be ideal to keep costs down. Naturally, I gravitated to Couchsurfing for multiple reasons; because it will provide us with flexibility for short-term lodging, also make it easy to meet warm and welcoming locals (the kind of people who will open their home to strangers, which will help point us in the direction of any "must-do" activities/sites, which we would otherwise be oblivious to as strangers to the area), and lastly because of my past personal positive experience with Couchsurfing - please let me elaborate, I was neither Host nor Guest in this experience, however, I lived in a shared house in Vancouver, where the Landlord had opened rooms and couches in their house to travellers. These travellers usually only stayed for a short stint, but we had so much fun spending time with these Couchsurfers! Now that I find myself needing multiple places to stay on this advenutre, I figured it will only enhance my experience to involve myself in the community.

PS, we are not expecting our hosts to entertain or provide us with information of the area, but if it ends up happening then that is great!

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorites

Music - Rap, but I listen to everything!

Movies - Super Troopers, 300, Gladiator, Wedding Crashers, old Adam Sandler movies :P

Books - Fantasy, Self Help, Fiction, and so on, (Read The Name of the Wind if you haven't already)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I hiked the entire Annapurna Circuit in Nepal over the course of 25 days and for 250KM/155Mi through Thorung-La Pass on the Annapurna Circuit, which has the same elevation as Everest Base Camp.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach - I am always willing to teach people whatever I know, I am a fairly well-rounded person with some good life experience!

Learn - I am like a sponge and open to new things and ideas. I believe that every person knows something I don't.

Share - I have no problems when it comes to sharing, especially when it comes to keeping things tidy!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my knowledge on Refrigeration, Heating, Ventilation or Air Conditioning equipment, and a couple laughs.
