I was born and raised in Czech Republic but have been living in the states for the past 12 years. My boyfriend Dean and I are very down to earth, friendly, open minded people who live together in the beautiful state of Maine. Both of us have recently graduated with art degrees and as a gift to ourselves, we decided to backpack Europe for 2 months. Both or us come from very different cultures and experiences and we would live to share that with like minded and respectful people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We would love to host people as soon as we get back from our Euro trip.

Both of us are very new to couch-surfing and are interested in new ways of traveling. We would love to have a local show us around the cities we plan to visit because we want to experience things off the beaten path. We would also love to meet cool and interesting people along our travels to hear their stories and experiences. All we are asking for is for someone to give us a chance in order to grow our profile.

Interests

Being creative making ART! I mostly work with ceramics and oil paints but have worked with multiple media. Dean focuses mainly on oil painting and occasionally print making.

Living in rural Maine means we love the outdoors: horseback riding, hiking, swimming, camping, lots of fishing, kayaking, running, traveling,learning and experiencing new things.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Generally I will listen to almost anything but I do favor Rock such as the Foo Fighters, The Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys, Kings of Leon. Also enjoy Alternative music like Ed Sheeran, Imagine Dragons, Mumford and Sons.

Movies: There are too many to pick from but of course there are classics like Forrest Gump, Gladiator, Shawshank Redemption and Pelíšky (Czech).

Books: Wild, Water for Elephants, The Last Summer, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, London is the Best City in America, The Hunger Games Trilogy

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I had the opportunity to volunteer at the Galapagos Islands in 2011 and protect the indigenous plants and animal species. Through this experience I had the opportunity to see ancient tortoises, visiting Darwin's Cove, and experience multiple wild animal encounters with sea turtles and sea lions.

Dean has had an amazing opportunity to backpack Northern California for 6 weeks in 2013.
