Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Long time ago I heard about Couchsurfing, but just this year I have a reference from a close friend. She told me about the good experiences that she had hosting and surfing the people's couch around the world. In the beginning, she shows me a good chance for cultural exchange but, for me, cs go beyond. It is, for me, an excellent sustainable model of tourism.
Here in Colombia we have several places that have to be protected, some of this places were conceived as natural parks and some other as nature reserve; and here is the point, the tourism's promotors, eg. want to place a big hotel in this areas, and what is worst, start a business without any social or environment assessment. Maybe, other countries have pretty similar problems with tourism, but only, if we understand how it affects the territory, the wildlife, to ourselves and the economy. then we will take part in a sustainable model.
Btw, I'm not against the tourism, don't get me wrong. I just think that tourism is very important and that's why´ we should do it in a responsible way.
