ABOUT ME

At the moment I live and breathe photography. I see it as a means to get travelling - to meet new people, see new and exiting places, experience cultures different to my own Anglo-Iranian roots, and as a means to convey these new-found experiences artistically (presuming I'm any good!) Well, that's the theory anyway.

I'd like to get as involved as possible. So far I have only hosted, but I can't wait to start surfing :)

Interests

Things/people I love: Photography, Stanley Kubrick, photography, beverages in juke-joints, Henri Cartier Bresson, ironing tortillias in the event of grill failure, double bills at the Prince Charles Cinema, photography, Friday nights at the Boogaloo, The Coen Brothers, baguette, Bogart, Brighton, the Cinematic Orchestra, my allotment, laughing with friends, laughing at friends, running away from friends, writing, and playing piano. I'm interested in movies, reading fiction, writing fiction, saying "fiction", "friction", "diction"; burning fiction (not really), and generally being mischievous. I freelance for my local paper and volunteer on nearby allotments helping elderly people to grow vegetables. I have my own plot there and grow things from home too. I also like to say "bumbershoot", "discombobulate", and "flibbertigibbet".

I watch too many movies by a long way. I'm a sponge for anything by Kubrick and Chaplin. Recent viewings include; Annie Hall, Mean Streets, Apocalypse Now, The Big Lebowski, The Big Sleep, Le Circle Rouge, The Godfather, Stalker, Sexy Beast, Elephant, Taste of Cherry, Paris Texas, The Third Man, Rashomon, High Hopes, The Night of the Iguana, Chinatown, The Birds, The Kiss of the Spiderwoman, and of course, Tommy Wiseau's evil abortive baby of a movie - the mindbendingly bad The Room.

Not sure I make enough time for books, especially given the fact that I'm an English Graduate. I love Cormac McCarthy, Richard Yates, and George Orwell.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watched the sun set over Angkor Wat, Cambodia
...I've also seen Adam Danvers doing laundry - a rare sight indeed.
