ABOUT ME

I LOVE to travel and experience new places, foods and cultures (Wow, who would have guessed, on a site like this, ,no less?).

I really enjoy getting off the beaten path, though I also realise some paths are heavily beaten because the destination is so good...

I LOVE food. I'll try anything (almost) really! That spicy roasted Saharan gnat, with ancient grains, fennel and organic duck butter and red wine sauce may just be the best thing I ever tasted - how would I know if I don't try?

I'm very chilled out, I tend not to plan, I just kind of use "The Force" and I always end up with an awesome experience. This is probably why Couch Surfing works for me, it seems to draw people who don't really plan so much, they just enjoy what they find.

I have fallen in love with Japan and Korea of late, if you are from either of these places, or more specifically, can help me with learning either Japanese or Korean, your chances of being hosted will also skyrocket. Even if I have "Not hosting right now" set in my profile.

I'm also heading to mainland China for the first time in January 2015 - and I'm super excited, it's somewhere I have been wanting to go for a long time!

I feel it only fair to warn you about my faults. I'm a tragic "trying really hard but sucking really bad" photographer wannabe. I'll jam a DSLR camera lens in your face at any opportunity. On the positive side, sometimes I get lucky and get a good shot. I'll let you have it once I process it...

Also, I'm kinda crazy.

PHILOSOPHY

Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I host people when I can, and enjoy showing out of towners around...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Loving it - I have made some great friends, and look forward to meeting up with you all somewhere in the world, and also looking forward to making new friends.

Interests

Motorbikes, scuba diving, photography, snow skiing, reading, good food, good coffee, chatting with friends, enjoying new places and new experiences.

Music, Movies, and Books

I can't even begin... There are way too many books and movies - from books like Freakonomics, and epic novels such as the Game of Thrones series (Hurry and finish those books, GRRM, damnit!), and musical tastes that go from Classical to Metal, Hip Hop to K-pop... I can only say I am interested mainly in the music, not the propaganda...

As for movies... I install home cinema's for a living, enough said.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There can be only one?

A small sample of my amazing experiences can be found in my photos...

Teach, Learn, Share

I often don't know what I can teach or share until it is asked of me, but my travel experiences will be a good start. If you happen to speak Mandarin, Japanese, Korean or German, and are willing to spend a bit of time helping me, that would be fantastic!

What I Can Share with Hosts

If you're new to photography, I can help you wrap your head around basic settings and composition. I can teach you how to make crepes, and I can explain to you, in great detail, why Starbucks has terrible coffee!

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Canada, China, Costa Rica, Fiji, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Macao, Malaysia, Maldives, Mexico, Myanmar, Palau, Philippines, Poland, Singapore, Slovakia, South Korea, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States, Vanuatu, Viet Nam
