About Me
Medical student's last gasp of freedom...
I grew up in London, studied in England and France, lived and worked in refugee camps in France and Lebanon, building, teaching English, devising theatre, teaching music, and speaking terrible Arabic; worked as an EMT for the London Ambulance Service for three years; left for medical school in Cyprus, which is where I am now. In my free time I read, play music, climb things, and pine after my dog, Mr Pig.
PS triple vaccinated
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
For the next four years I'll be perched on this beautiful rock in a far corner of the Mediterranean, with several weeks' holiday several times a year until I graduate and go back to my post on the 'NHS frontline' . Better make the most of it.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: can show you a great little 1960s four-piece skiffle band from Liverpool. I think you'll like them.
Movie: watched a lot of films up to the age of 12. Then I saw Gladiator. Now I mostly watch that instead.
Books: War and Peace, Ulysses, Moby Dick, Crime and Punishment. I guess they just speak to me, you know?
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Arrived with my friend at a pub in Fort William, Scotland, in the dead of winter and asked the barman where we could find Ben Nevis. The next morning we attempted to climb the north face with no ropes, no crampons, no ice picks, no experience of climbing anything, no local knowledge, compass, map, waterproof boots, or any idea what we were doing. Obviously we failed, but it was amazing that we thought it was a good idea.
Teach, Learn, Share
For hosts: I have experience as a landscaper/gardener/labourer. If you need a fence fixed, the garden weeded, a hole dug, heavy things carried around, or something similar then by all means let me know. I spent three days building a wall for a CS host in Alabama once, so don’t be shy.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Ambulance stories that can be tailored to your specific preference (ridiculous, gross, heart-breakingly sad, the choice is yours). A handful of British folk songs, impassioned travel advice for visiting Corsica. A foothold in either Cypus or England in the near future. A huge appetite for trivia and tales (apocryphal or genuinely true, I'll take either) about your country/culture/self.
