About Me
Aloha!
My name is Barnaby and I am currently travelling from Canada to Chile for 14 months with my wife Anna, and two children Bruno (10) and Melody (7).
We live in South West England near the coast just outside the city of Bristol. I work on property development / construction and Anna runs a small online art gallery.
We like to think we are vibrant, interesting people with a lot of energy and a fun, positive outlook on life. We have just returned to California from Hawaii and have picked up the Aloha spirit! :-)
In my youth (many moons ago!) I travelled a lot. Spent a year in India, a year in Australia and also visited Peru, Mexico, Venezuela, Cuba, Thailand, and many other countries. This latest trip is the alternative to having a mid-life crisis! I get on with people of all ages, from 17 to 70 and am as happy listening as I am sharing stories of adventures past.
The trip has really energised my spirit again, after a decade behind a desk. I am thoroughly enjoying living in the present moment.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We would love to meet some locals to really get to know the places we visit as we never stop anwhere longer than a few days. In exchange we would be delighted to cook for you / take you out. We have a blow up bed for the children, but all four of us can sleep on it if needed. If you are not around we would still be interested in house or pet sitting for you, while you are away travelling.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love jazz, blues, funk, soul, hip hop, reggae and world/cultural music.
So many great movies to choose from. My favourite is still Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Love that film :-) I even have a 'Save Ferris' T-Shirt!
I like reading books about ancient cultures, as well as books that help with inner growth, both from a business perspective and personally. So everything from Seven Successful habits to The Chimp Paradox.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Trekking to Macchu Picchu in Peru over 5 days, from hot, sweltering riverside to throwing snowballs atop a mountain. That was really a great adventure. Hope to repeat it this time with the family.
Teach, Learn, Share
I would like to learn to surf and to sail and I would like to improve my cooking and photography techniques. I would also like to learn Spanish.
What I Can Share with Hosts
