About Me

I am a former globetrotting photojournalist who still savors my years of sleeping on the couches of others before the internet. I am a working artist who makes photographs with 19th century techniques...I have a real job too, I teach high school students digital photography.
I live in an industrial space in San Jose, if you want a swing on the porch, look elsewhere.
Please be aware that given my work schedule, I prefer to host guests on weekends, though I may occasionally have folks over during the week with advance notice.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Paying back the years that I slept on the couches of others. As we all know, it's a great way to see the world while meeting real people...

Yes, please.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I live in an 850 sq. foot warehouse in the Willow Glen area of San Jose, CA.
My place: It's like a huge garage with a bedroom, bathroom and darkroom attached...I recently acquired a camper, which can serve as an extra bedroom, or I have a couch in my studio area. There's a very simple kitchen and bath/shower. I prefer guests who are staying for 1-2 days, and I like getting those requests a few days before your requested stay, though I am aware that travel is often spontaneous. Please don't ask to stay for weeks at a time unless we've already met! Couchsurfing is for people on the move, e.g. travelers, not people who need a place to live while they find a job in Silicon Valley!
