About Me

I like to take a walk somewhere with a rewarding view. I like jumping into rivers and lakes. I like to drink one delicious beer when the weather is hot (but a cold glass of water is good too!). I like eating anything delicious although I'm not picky!

Some time ago i mastered the art of omelette making, but since then have slightly lost it.

I try to be nice. I'm Irish so I can be overly polite.

Sometimes I'm quiet, sometimes I'm talkative but always friendly.

I'm not a huge advocate of anger, aggression or fake tan.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm not very philosophical but i will borrow a quote from a surfer that stayed with me...

"Don't explain your philosophy. Embody it." Epictetus

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Initially I was a reluctant host and was pleasantly surprised by the experience. The excitement of meeting a stranger, the interesting chats and views they had to share.
Then it was my turn to be the surfer and it was amazing! I've learned with every CS experience that hospitality is one of the best and most simple gifts you can give someone

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed in a bunch of countries with a bunch of different people. There hasn't been a time where I didn't feel nervous, intimidated or awkward about the prospect. That's me. But I have never left with those feelings. It's always been positive, always been rewarding.

I've only hosted a handful of times, but having experienced the unprecedented levels of hospitality that others have afforded me I would really like to put more into hosting.

Interests

food, travel, sleep, music, walking around new places aimlessly , searching for coffees and pastries and flea markets and thrift stores. Taking hikes in the countryside and any sport where i don't have to be very competitive or good.

Music, Movies, and Books

Good music (animal collective, four-tet, explosions in the sky, beach house type stuff...), nice movies (anything Wes Anderson, PT Anderson, Coen brothers-ish), interesting books (I dont read much , I am currently reading what is in essence a dictionary).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think i saw James Brown do the splits once (he was very far away). I've hitch hiked in about 22 countries. I've walked 1000km across Spain. I had dinner with a Bulgarian member of Parliament.

Thanks to couch surfing spent Christmas with an amazing Serbian family, slept in a 2000 year old cave-house in Jordan, snowboarded for the first time in Greece (who knew that was possible?!), enjoyed a hot tub in the snow in Iceland, got drunk and sang karaoke with a septagenarian in Japan

Stories. Laughter. Maybe some useful travel tips. I could probably teach you some wood carving
