I was born in India but grew up in Toronto, ON, Canada and recently (May 2022) moved to Dallas, TX, United States. I aim to travel at least 3 times a year.

I enjoy cooking, love animals (had a cat and currently have a dog), learning new languages. Hobbies include music (production/writing/playing), gaming, and cooking

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Just trying to make as many friends as I can all over the world :)

The best part of travel is meeting people and learning new things. I'm couchsurfing with the hopes of meeting up with locals who share the same values for travel and connection as me; people that I otherwise I very likely wouldn't have met. I also often solo travel so couchsurfing is a great way of making new friends.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

TL;DR: Created a travel FB group and planned/went on a 2-month nationwide trip with 6 strangers.

In 2017 the only train company in Canada, VIA Rail, was having a limited (under 2k) ticket sale for Canada's 150th anniversary. They sold am "unlimited train travel for all of summer" pass for just $150. I stayed up late with 10+ tabs and windows on various browsers to get the ticket as soon as the sale went live. I was able to get one for myself and within seconds of my order going through they were sold out.

No one I knew got the ticket, so I created a Facebook group in hopes of connecting with other youth in Canada who did. Little did I know that nearly everyone who got the ticket would join and I fostered a community of travelers who planned trips together for the summer. There, I also made plans with 6 strangers who I'd embark across Canada with for 2 months.

VIA Rail recognized this community and interviewed me and another admin as well as gave us travel credit. We also ended up on tons of national news stations! Was a very fulfilling summer :)
