About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To visit at least four new countries a year.

ABOUT ME

Willing to keep my eyes permanently open to new cultures, new people, new languages, new friends. I'd like to think of myself as someone who does their bit to bring the world that little bit closer together with every new person I meet in a new country. I love to laugh, to make others laugh, to hear stories, to drink with friends, to learn, to share. It's a brave new world so let's leave our doors open a little wider. I tend to get really curious about new cultures, languages, food, drink...everything new, really. As a result, I might ask a lot of questions, just indulge me : )

My pros: I will (try to) make you laugh, I am not in the least bit shockable, I am very polite, I would call myself generous, I will keep up with your drinking or die trying.

My cons, as I see them: I smoke too much, I swear a little too much (I'm Scottish, that's what we do), when I don't want to do something I REALLY don't want to do something, I get distracted by places where I can get something to eat, or a beer, or both...generally both, I despise being late (maybe that's a pro), I get really disappointed when the party is over, I seem to be able to use the phrases "come on, we need to go now!" and "can we not just stay here?" in equal measure.

PHILOSOPHY

Just be good to each other, I believe the people we are is a direct result of everyone we've ever met, for good or for bad.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I don't host due to my current living circumstances, i.e space, flatmate, etc. For me, CS is about meeting people and sharing stories, thoughts, ideas. If I'm free in my city, ask me and I'll see if I can meet you for coffee, drinks, show you around, etc. When I travel, I always try to meet at least one new person via 'reaching out' on this site.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

It's been a almost a year now since I joined Couchsurfing, and I have to say it is one of the best decisions I ever made. I am always pleasantly reminded of the kindness of strangers with every new experience and long may that continue. There are people who would gasp at the concept of Couchsurfing, and that's fine. For me, however, it is one of the boldest and most honest solutions for the lone traveller in need of a helping hand on their shoulder and a kind nod in the right direction.

Interests

I'm involved in a lot of theatre and I love film. I love talking to any creative person and those with a tale or two to tell.
