About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Ride Chiloe!

ABOUT ME

22 years old. My greatest fears are cold water and sharks, the largest of which tend to inhabit said water temperatures.

PHILOSOPHY

I think learning is one of the most essential pursuits of humanity. Learning how to exist harmoniously, and conscientiously amidst the seemingly chaotic and iniquitous circumstances of our world being the most important journey one could undertake.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My house is pretty packed with residents and the couch is usually spoken for (by me) so hosting wouldn't be ideal though the occasional traveler for a night or two shouldn't be a problem. My status is coffee or a drink, might be able to cook something up if the timing's right. I'd be pleased to take you on a bike ride around Durango and introduce you to the younger portion of the populace (20-30ish). Ideally I would suggest visiting Durango in the summer and fall, during the winter everyone gets a bit shut-in.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was inspired to join by a couch surfer I met this summer from Spain. She was so full of life and adventure I had to check it out. I plan to use it to travel to South America soon, and eventually to host when I come back to continue my college degree.

Interests

Mountain biking enthusiast. Voracious reader and student of world history. Banjo player and admirer of most forms of music excluding modern country/western, techno/electronica, hip hop and any genre of music that has "christian" in it's title (nothing personal). I brew beer occasionally and consume it with greater regularity.I enjoy cooking and eating, my favorite types of food being Japanese, southwestern (US), barbecue, Mexican and most anything Mediterranean in origin -seafood is divine. I enjoy dancing and practice an unlabeled discipline of body movement when the spirit (or spirits) moves me.

Music, Movies, and Books

Ishmael, One Hundred Years of Solitude, Enders Game, Suttree, The Lord of the Rings, A Coney Island of the Mind, Harry Potter, The Rum Diary, For Whom The Bell Tolls.
Thee Oh Sees, Cocorosie, Bach, Hank Williams (sr.), Townes van zandt, Neutral Milk Hotel, The Velvet Underground, Bill Monroe, Belle & Sebastien, Loretta Lynn, Violeta Parra, Old Crow Medicine Show.
The Life Aquatic, There Will Be Blood, Apocalypse Now, Waking Life, The Jerk, Rushmore, The Thing, The big Lebowski.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My first memory is of a whale. Its a color unlike any I've seen since and a deep, woeful yet comforting sound. I was only five months old.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am pretty handy with bicycle maintenance and repair (mostly), well read, can brew, a wealth of trivia knowledge and an historical encyclopedia in a tall skinny gringo body. I know a little bit about carpentry and blacksmithing and have a passion for language and words though I am only fluent in English. I would like to learn about permaculture, other peoples and languages. I can teach some guitar, dobro, mandolin and banjo and could learn even more. I would like to learn to cook exotic dishes, can food or build a mud oven.
