About Me

Dear Friends, I am a young guy from the low countries and interested to see more of the world. the netherlands are a pleasant and generous country to live in. As a child, the holidays were always a highlight of the year for me. Broaden your horizon by discovering cultures, people, and areas that are interesting. About a year ago I made a number of drastic changes. Despite the studying at the university and the subject of history in which I am interested. My heart lies more in discovering and entering into adventures where life is manifested in the here and now to fully enjoy with life. Last summer I made a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela from the Netherlands. the way of saint james. This inspired me to make a journey that I wanted to walk since my childhood. This tour runs from the south of Portugal to the north of Scotland, John O' Groats. I walk the tour with a goal to raise money for underprivileged children in Nepal. In this way I hope, in the ideas of a pilgrim, to offer these children a future. After the trip I would like to work as a tour guide in Nepal to make a difference for the children and sherpa's of Nepal!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I participate in couch surfing because I have noticed how people are connected by a common love for human life and nature. I want to connect and build bridges and have noticed in France that if I expose myself we have a real bond and understanding. I have lived in Ireland and did international school for about three months. I have done volunteer work and have been to the most amazing and remote places i've ever seen. I have met people who have stolen my heart and I will never forget about the memories we shared. The fruits of these bonds are indescribable and how I would like to experience the world. In life we hide behind facades and draw a wall around ourselves and life in order not to be touched by suffering and pain. When I expose myself to everyone and the world, real ties arise and go beyond the duality in which we live, through which I really see persons in a confidential way and they me.

Music, Movies, and Books

as relaxation I watch movies and I listen to music and audio books. My favorite movies are Once upon a time in the west and Papillon. I love to listen to different sort of music like George Michael, Dire Straits, James Blunt and Racoon (Dutch Band). My favorite books are youth adults, novels, history, adventure books of explores as John Muir and Roald Dahl.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I walked to Santiago de Compostela In Spain from the Netherlands. A journey of 3000 kilometers full of adventure, meet and greets, dangers and luck. I left on my own and on the way I build relationships with people for lifetime. The camino is a separate universe in which every encounter is one with yourself because everyone is open and bonds are created in a short time that will go on forever belonging to your experiences.

Teach, Learn, Share

In life I am interested where my challenges lie and that despite all the problems I still see fun and happiness in the way that is life. I learn through life itself and through the encounters with others what a new experience each time is to share. I am still surprised that when we literally embrace people as figuratively, we create a better world with mutual respect and peace towards each other. That is why I am traveling, to see the world change wherever i am and the alteration of everybody around me.

What I Can Share with Hosts

i love to cook and it is also one of my greatest hobbies, i would love to share. The Dutch kitchen is not very famous and contains little variation. nevertheless you can make great dishes with potatoes. and vegetables. I love telling stories about my adventures and love to hear about your own stories as what inspires you to do in life.
