ABOUT ME

Hello, I'm Bart, I'm 24 and I'm from Lodz, Poland. I'm currently doing a PhD in law at the University of Antwerp. Sounds a little bit boring? I get it, sometimes I wonder what the heck I'm doing there as well. I'm open-minded, curiousity and irony is my second name, I'm totally reliable and trustworthy, generally nice, but if somebody is mean, I do the same - no rocket sciene there. Sometimes my friends say that I'm a little bit too talkative, it happens. And my bad habit - I have a craving for food. Everywhere and everytime. Chocolate is my thing. I love beer too. Belgian beer to be exact. But pretty much anything will do the trick. In my free time I work as a tour leader in a travel agency around Poland and UK.

PHILOSOPHY

"We're born alone, we live alone, we die alone. Only through our love and friendship can we create the illusion for the moment that we're not alone."

Welles, Orson

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, I'm actually new to all this but I'm a quick learner.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Hopefully, soon to be experienced. They say that you never forget your first time.
Update: it's true what they say! My first time was awesome thanks to my host who hooked me up even more on the whole idea of couchsurfing, thanks Alex!

Interests

Travelling. Might sound like a cliche but it really is. Otherwise, I wouldn't be here and I wouldn't be working in a travel agency. What's more? Photography. I love to shoot people, but they usually object to comply. And I'd go for technology, new IT stuff is always great. Men do love gadgets, trust me.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a total tv series addict. I watch plenty of them. I never get tired. Sometimes though, a rehab will be pretty handy. Movies? Favourites one are those with Meryl Streep, Jake Gyllenhaal, Ryan Gosling and many, many others. Weird fact - I've never watched a Star Wars movie. Music? I kind of listen to everything, it's diffcult to find the best genre. I do however, get amazed by Coldplay's concerts, have fun at Crystal Fighter's gigs. But sometimes I like to chill out to Ben Howard or James Blake. Foals are a good choice for almost every mood. Yet I'm totally in love with Icelandic music, Ólafur Arnald is my favourite musician. In a nutshell, my music library consists of thousands of mp3. Books? Crime novels are okay. Honestly saying, when it comes to books, it's complicated.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Being a tour leader is actually quite an amazing thing. You travel around the world with people for free, you get paid, you share your passion with others and you meet generally new fantastic people. Is there anything better? Well, just to be clear, being a multimillionaire doesn't count, but hey, still it's great! But I think that the one amazing thing I've done is Erasmus. I spent the best year of my life in Antwerp, Belgium. I met fantastic people, learned a lot, partied like crazy and travelled often.

Teach, Learn, Share

My mum is a teacher, so they say that some features you inherit from your parents. I suppose I can be a good teacher. On what subject? You decide. I'm open to explore new possibilites. Learn? Please, no law at all. I have enough on my studies. Learning can be okay, but you got to do it in a right way. Professors generally suck at it. I like learning new languages, learning about new cultures, learning about new people. Share? I can share my passion towards travelling and many other things with you. You decide. It's entirely up to you what can be shared. It works both ways.
