ABOUT ME

I'm Bart, 24 years old, student, from The Netherlands. I will be flying into Edinburgh to start my International Semester studying at Edinburgh Napier University on 4 September!

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that every single moment is perfect as it is, that life is a miraculous journey and that our natural state of being is one of intense joy and love.

Interests

I like deep conversations, sharing experiences, loving and enjoying life every single day. I love to meet new people from all cultures and creeds.

I have a passion for Personal Development and have studied many different modalities that facilitate people in living the life they desire. When I finish my university studies my ambition is to become a motivational speaker, helping thousands of people to discover their incredible capacities, which are summoned once they discover their personal legend. I believe each and every human being is capable of a miraculous life once they discover what they truly love in life, by simply listening to their heart and emotions and using these as guidance to what they should be doing. I feel my path is to help myself and other people gently wash away any resistance, fear, and limiting beliefs that may be keeping us back from living the life of their dreams.

Besides my passion for people, I love playing the guitar playing the guitar, and if you have a guitar at your place I will play you a tune or two ;-)

When I go to the gym I mostly do fitness, and sometimes Tai Chi or Yoga. I would like to pick up Tai Chi again in Edinburgh as it has always been a great experience.

I love diving! So far I have done dives in Italy, Spain, Egypt, Malaysia. I love sharing experiences of diving. If you are curious about diving I might be able to help you decide if it's for you.

For me University Study I so far mostly looked at: Cognition, Perception, Statistics, Research Methods, Sociology, and User Centered Design.

I love to visit international music festivals! So far I have visited Lowlands (Holland) once, Sziget (Hungary, Budapest) twice, Urban Artforms (Austria) once, and Dour (Belgium) four times. I love to share crazy stories about these visits, music festivals are a truly amazing place where you see and experience things that you just cannot experience anywhere else.

To give an example, I just returned from Sziget 2010 in Hungary, Budapest, where I watched Muse, Madness, Mika, and Iron Maiden from up close

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: any animation movie, The Count of Monte Cristo, french costume movies immediately come to mind.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Visiting many ancient sites in Egypt left a big impression on me.

Diving at 25 metres depth, all colours but blue filtered out by the seawater, feeling at one with the water, the fish, was incredible.

Getting to see Malaysia was a rich and versatile experience.

Visiting Sziget music Festival in 2010 and 2007, as well as many other music festivals, left me with experiences I will never forget.

Visiting Florence, Venice and Rome in summer 2010 was absolutely amazing, these cities have a beauty and age I didn't see anywhere before.

Futhermore:
I can teach Basic Guitar Skills
I can tell you a thing or two about Diving
I can tutor on basic math, perhaps physics and chemistry, and on advanced statistics, research methods, perception, cognition and sociology.
Even though I gave up gaming, I can teach many things about getting rich in games such as World of Warcraft by being a trader.
