About Me

"Follow your heart with visions and actions; create your own folds and you will connect with your purpose of life." — Peggy Oki

Born in 1986 in Katowice, Poland.

For years I’ve been vagabonding around the most remote places in Europe—sleeping on the ground, meditating on mountaintops, and hiking up every obscure, back-of-beyond trail I could find. By the time I started writing epic, 17-page-long stories about my adventures in my old-school paper journal, I knew the world was my backyard. Without realising it, I was laying the groundwork for my future.

In 2011 I found DEFUZE magazine, a collaborative, quarterly art and fashion photography publication featuring young talent alongside established professionals. Having studied printing and preparation process in college, I felt like I was finally putting my skills and knowledge to the test. I have always enjoyed the creative process of playing with words and images, and I had always wanted to run a successful magazine.

My interest in fashion had somewhat faded away when I realised that it’s not manufactured clothes and pretty faces that I love and care about, but people, places, and real-life situations. That, eventually, led me to journalism, which I am currently studying at the College of Media and Publishing, reportage photography, and documentary filmmaking.

In 2014 I packed my backpack to the gills and virtually carried my home away with me. I flew to Iceland where for two weeks I walked for over 150 miles. I wild-camped and deliberately subjected myself to almost absolute solitude so that I was able to reconnect with the true purpose of my life. That purpose, I quickly realised, was travelling.

One day I decided to give up the comforts of my somewhat privileged life. I sold and gave away almost all of my possessions, moved out of my two-bedroom flat in the suburbs of London, and embraced life for what it's really supposed to be: people, love, and happiness. To follow my heart with vision and actions, create my own folds; maybe that's what connects me to the purpose of my life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love meeting new, fun people, and I think I can also be good fun to be around! Also, Couchsurfing is the best way to learn about a new culture, which, in my opinion, is the essence of travelling.

Interests

My interests are very broad. I am obviously very much into travelling and meeting exciting people which is why I am on Couchsurfing.

I am also very passionate about the environment,t animal welfare, well-being, and positive-thinking. I studied Food and Health as well as Mindfulness. I am a minimalist and my home is where my heart is. I travel with a small pack on my shoulders and a camera in my hand.

I am definitely into all sorts of physical activities—I am a huge tennis fan. I also do a bit of bouldering, recreational cycling, hiking, and parkour. In winter I like skiing or snowboarding. But besides being quite adventurous, I ca do all the geeky stuff, too—I love board games, comic books, watching movies, and reading. I love horror movies and anything zombie-related.

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC:

I can listen to absolutely anything. I really like live gigs and playing the guitar. But, you will mostly find me listening to some fairly alternative kind of beats including Raury, Alt-J, Alice Phoebe Lou, Coldplay, Of Monsters and Men, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and Linkin Park.

MOVIES:

American Honey,
Encounters At The End Of the World by Werner Herzog,
Kill Bill,
Lost In Translation,
The Beach
The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty,
Tracks,
We Need To Talk About Kevin,
Wild

BOOKS:

I read whenever I can, but I am a fussy reader. I get bored easily and if a book isn't good from the get go, I will probably put it down and never regret it. But some of my favourite books I have listed below:

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Novel by Benjamin Alire Sáenz,
Destination Unknown by Susan English,
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho,
The Catcher In The Rye by J. D. Salinger,
We Are the Ants by Shaun David Hutchinson,
The Beach by Alex Garland

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I trekked and wild camped for three weeks in Iceland. I think it was the most amazing experience of my life to this day, and I really want to go back there one day and explore all the places I haven't yet visited while I was there. Three weeks was definitely not long enough!

I have also come to live in London all on my own as soon as I turned 19! It was both super scary and incredibly exciting. What happened next is a long story.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to make cool, like-minded friends! I am sure we can learn a lot from one another!
I could probably teach you some English or Polish, or I could tell you all about my travels.
I have also been told I am good cook, and though I am vegan (occasional vegeterian if needed to be), I can turn those veggies into some neat dishes :D
I am also a professional and certified photographer and would love to take some photos for/of you, or we can go out shooting together!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I would love to take photos of you, your family, and your day-to-day life—I am a professional, experienced, and certified photographer (Michigan State University and Harvard University).

I was told I can cook well—I am vegan, but I think you might like my food.

We can do yoga or meditate together!

We can go hiking, bouldering, parkour, or play some tennis—I love physical activities, nature, and seeing new places.

I can help you with shopping and cleaning, too—I like to keep my place tidy; also, I am a very environment-conscious consumer.

And, I like to party too! I am not big on drinking, but I don't really need booze or anything else to keep me happy and going!
