ABOUT ME

I'm a friendly, easy-going 42-years old guy who is fond of traveling, sports and photography. At the moment, in 2013, I am traveling by car to Mongolia and back.
I studied biology back the nineties, but I work as an IT-specialist for 15 years already.

PHILOSOPHY

Live and let live.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am an absolute couchsurf-beginner ;-)

Interests

Concerning sports, I like especially football and running. With respect to traveling I am particularly interested in tropical countries and I have a preference for a more or less adventurous way of traveling. And, as I mentioned before, I like photography.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Pulp Fiction, the Godfather, American Beauty, Blood Diamond, The Matrix I, Sixth Sense, Trainspotting, Platoon, Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill and a lot more.

Music: according to my age I like predominantly eighties-music, although I don't have strong preferences for specific artists.

Books: historic books and travel stories. The travel stories of Redmond O'Hanlon I find just fantastic.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I still was a student I stayed for 4 months in a rainforest in Ivory Coast (at Taï), doing monkey-research. The most spectacular thing I ever saw, is the so called 'monkey rain'. The crowned hawk eagle is one of the biggest birds of prey in the world and it hunts, among others, for monkeys. When it appears, the monkeys just drop themselves to the ground, sometimes from enormous hights. When this happened, and I was almost in the middle of it, I also got a clear view of the eagle itself when it landed just 10 meters away from me on a dead, brenchless tree. It didn't catch a monkey, by the way, but that didn't make the event less spectacular at all.
