About Me

I am originally from East London and currently travelling around South America with no flight booked home. I'm an open-minded, laid-back who'd like to meet local people in the places I visit.

In the future I'd be keen to show visitors around London, especially the culturally diverse area of East London I am from, this is the most interesting part of London for me.

In Summer 2018 I graduated with a Masters in Physics from the University of Leeds.Since then I have moved back to London and have worked several jobs to save up enough money for a once in a lifetime trip across South America. My trip is very flexible as I've not yet booked a flight home ! The reason I chose South America is I travelled here for six weeks in 2015 and since then I have wanted to return !

For most of this trip I was in Peru with with other student volunteers from University working for a charity callled SKIP (Supporting Kids in Peru); whom I fundraised money for. I taught English part of a team in a school in Trujillo; we taught an age range from 5-15 in both the general school (primary and secondary) and the specialist school that kids who were less well-off took extra classes at.

After this job I travelled around Peru and Bolivia briefly and really fell in love with the South American way of life. I improved my Spanish and met fellow travellers who I still stay in contact with today. So for this trip I want to explore a lot more of South America and the people that live here !

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I heard of Couchsurfing through my sister who used it on a similar trip in South America, following a similar route to me. I've also heard about it from other travellers that is is a great way to meet local people and experience their culture (an alternative to meeting fellow travellers in hostels). I want to immerse myself in the culture of countries I visit and attempt to experience everything South America has to offer.

I can't host anyone at the moment in London as I'm currently on my trip in South America. In the future I would be keen to show visitors around London and potentially host.

When I eventually return to Europe I'm hoping to explore some places a bit closer to home by visiting lots of European countries!

Music, Movies, and Books

I have quite a varied taste in music ranging from electronic to folk music. There are few genres I do not like (Reggaeton!) and I have a passion for listening to new music and regularly attend gigs.

I love music festivals and have been to UK festivals such as Reading, Bestival and Houghton.

Recently I've enjoyed reading Motorcycle Diaries, Sophie's World and One Hundred Years of Solitude.

My all time favourite TV series are HBO's The Wire and The Sopranos. I also enjoy Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad & Twin Peaks. My all time favourite move is Bladerunner as I love the science fiction aspect.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I contributed to the 2012 Paralympics here in East London as a Young Games Maker Volunteer. I worked in a tie-down crew to secure paraplegic athletes for their throwing events such as discus, shot-put and javelin. It was an amazing opportunity to get involved in the Olympics and meant I could attend the Opening Ceremony !

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Bolivia, Costa Rica, France, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Peru, Poland, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United States, Wales

Countries I’ve Lived In
