O mnie

CURRENT MISSION

Settling back into life in Germany

ABOUT ME

'Cheerful and friendly' is what everybody else says about me. I'm also creative, a good listener, somewhat practical and responsible (as a mother must be), but I love to have fun and laugh!

PHILOSOPHY

You can't add more hours to your life
But you can add more life to your hours

I got this from another CSer and have met so many CSers who demonstrate this, so I can say I've been inspired to try to make the most of every moment too.

Dlaczego jestem na Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I like to meet new people and get to know them. When I was living overseas we couchsurfed and hosted a lot. Now we occasionally couchsurf when we travel and continue to participate in local CS meetings. Hosting brings a spark of excitement into our every day lives at home and Rob and I have made good friends through the experience. Going to CS meetings while travelling has really helped us to make new friends and learn local secrets about places.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Apart from surfing when I/we've been travelling, so far we have hosted CSers from Germany, France, England, Ireland, Scotland, The Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Malta, Slovenia, Slovakia, Turkey, Botswana, Canada, the USA, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, China, South Korea, Japan and India while living in three different countries.

Zainteresowania

Travelling, meeting new people, good conversation, a laugh, listening to music, trying new foods, cooking/baking (I'm always looking out for new recipes, if you'd like to give me some favourites), board games, linguistics, dancing, playing bassoon in orchestras and chamber music groups, playing anything/singing in a band, social sports, cycling, going for walks, learning, learning, learning!

Muzyka, filmy i książki

Movies: There's heaps of good and entertaining movies out there, but I do appreciate films that do at least one of the following brilliantly: change the way I think about the world, have witty scripts, have great music and/or great cinematography. So the following are a variety of my "faves:" Son of Rambo, Juno, Pan's Labyrinth, FightClub, Crazy Stupid Love, Stranger Than Fiction, Amelie, Super 8, Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind, Keeping Mum, School of Rock, Looper, The Princess Bride, Across the Universe, Lissi und der wilde Kaiser....

Music: Please tell me what you're into. Introduce me to some new music! I can find something to appreciate about most music, but my faves are Dub, Soul and Reggae (NZ Music + Bob Marley), Hip Hop (if you have access to German music, check out Peter Fox, or if you're young, go old-school and check out Grand Master Flash!), and currently my favourite singer/songwriters are Ed Sheeran, Brooke Fraser, Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova. From playing in orchestras, of course I have a list of my favourite art music ("classic") composers. I'm actually open to all listening experiences. I even go to metal concerts sometimes, although that's not my listening preference at home.

Books: The Shadow of the Wind, Lord of the Rings, David Copperfield, Pride and Prejudice, The Importance of Being Earnest, The Book Thief, Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child's series on the character Detective Pendergast, Robert Jordan's epic Wheel of Time series, The Penguin History of NZ, (written) commentary on Maori and Christian topics...

Jedna niesamowita rzecz, którą zrobiłem(-am)

Watching our young children developing. It truly is amazing how quickly babies turn into little people with their own opinions and our kids are pretty cool, if our CS references are anything to go by :)

Ucz innych, ucz się sam, udostępniaj

I'd love to help anybody else out with English language, music skills, living in/studying in/visiting NZ, how to pronounce Maori and explaining Maori culture and history.

I'd like to get some more practice speaking German!
I'd also like some help learning basic Spanish or how to pronounce French off a page.
I'd like tips on gardening from scratch and some tips with my sewing projects from those who are experienced with clothes-making.

I'd love to share your experiences and my experiences as they come up naturally in conversation. Most importantly I'd like to share some good times out with new people as well as old friends.

One of the best blessings of CS for us since having kids is any help we can get with household tasks while we're hanging out at home getting to know each other. "A task shared is a task halved" = more fun and much quicker!

Czym mogę się podzielić z gospodarzami

Our CS experiences. Life. Good conversation. Cooking good food.
