About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live life to the fullest and regret nothing!

ABOUT ME

a gypsy at heart, 200 years too late...sometimes too passionate for my own good...lover of fine wine and late nights...prefer to walk the walk than talk the talk...blah, blah, blah. I hate filling in little boxes about "me".

PHILOSOPHY

Karma. Karma. Karma. And the power of positive thinking.

"You do not ask a tame seagull why it needs to disappear from time to time toward the open sea. It goes, that's all." Bernard Moitessier

"I was born with an enormous need for affection, and a terrible need to give it." Audrey Hepburn

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My sister and I have hosted about 5 people about a year ago - wonderful people and a really great experience - however it was more my sister's thing and I don't really know how to use this yet which is why I have no friends or reccommendations!! LOL.

I believe life is about sharing, loving, and laughing. We have two hands, one to help ourselves - the other to help another. Cultural exchange is key.

Interests

reading, writing, running, sailing, skiiing, globe trotting, biking, pilates & yoga, and laughing (good for the core)!sailing around the world...learning by doing...starting my own business...africa...buddhism...nature...writing about it all.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love so many books. anything by hunter s. thompson, anything about africa is on my list, biographies, travel tales, adventures at sea, novels...etc. Musically i'm very ecclectic. i *love* classic rock - but my ipod really runs the gamut as far as musical genres...chances are i like it unless it is rap or heavy metal.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

So many, I know this asked for one but it is so impossible to narrow down!
Saved a life in El Salvador.
Climbed Kilimanjaro.
Witnessed a male Maasai Circumcision.
Was invited (but declined) to witness a Female Circumcision.
Attended many a "Trance Africa" bush party and danced under the stars of the Africa Sky.
Travelled solo through SE Asia for 3 months.
Climbed an Active Volcano in Tanzania.
Climed an Inactive volcano in West Indies.
Helped a lost child find its father in a crowd.
Saved a thai girl from disaster during a full moon party.
Trekked across the Crater Highlands with a donkey, a Maasai guide, and two amazing girlfriends.
Was bit by a scorpion.
Ate a scorpion (no, not the one that bit me).
Rode a bike around Angkor Wat.
Ran the Chicago Marathon.
Ran a half Marathon in Kenya in a game reserve with the Samburus!! (those are the guys that win the olympics!!)
Sailed a world-class Farr 40 in Sydney Harbor.
Met and loved some truly, truly amazing and wonderful people.
Got a free meal in Nice, France when I convinced the (formerly RUDE) waiter that I was a travel writer for the Chicago Tribune.
It helps that I am very easily amused and that I smile and laugh alot - particularly at myself.
I see amazing people and do amazing things every day!
It is all relative. I find simple as well as exotic pleasures in all of the lives I have lived.
I am so blessed and so thankful for it all!!
