About Me

The name I usually go by is Bastien (he/him) and as a wandering montrealer I'm travelling to Berlin to meet friends (back in 2019 I chilled in your cool city for a month), enjoy time at the pace it comes by and generally try to softly inhabit the urban space. That is, I'm mostly considering hanging out, resting, getting a grasp of the worlds I'm interacting with and living outside of work, studies and related "productive" responsabilities.

It would be quite nice for me to exchange with the people that are living around me, and my relax non-schedule would allow me to improvise.
It would be a pleasure to get to know my host, even if I don't stay for very long. I'm inclined at sharing music of various level of weirdness, cycling around for fun (in Montreal I work as a bike messenger; as a result, a bicycle is for me a practical, convivial and soothing tool to end up anywhere in a city), cooking and discussing about creative projects (I myself tends to explore digital arts and critical making), books/zines/printed material, moving images and any ideas.
I'm also inclined to write long texts filled with funky punctuation/grammar.

Concerning the languages in which I can communicate, I'm fluent in French and English but my knowledge of German is unfortunatly limited to a bit of slang (of course, if you'd like we could communicate in whatever language suits you, but I guess it might complicate the understanding process).

If you are racist, sexist, homophobe, transphobe or disregard solidarity in its most broad scope, well it's probably better that we avoid to cross each others path.
Otherwise, I would be extremely happy to hear from you, unknown persons looking for a guest!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm planning to orbit around Berlin for a few months, probably traveling around as well, and maybe finding a stable place to stay for some times. However, it unexpectedly turned out that friends that planned to host me most of the time cannot do so, such that I'm looking for a place(s) to stay for a few days.
I thought it could actually be a nice occasion to meet interesting people and get a glimpse of different trajectories in the city. My flatmates used to host couchsurfers in our home two years ago, and I remembered how nice it was to meet fellow humans that likes to travel that way, such that I thought I should jump in as well.

Music, Movies, and Books

hum, that wildly change over the course of a week.

But I always like to get dreamy looking at heavy clouds or plants growing through the concrete.

Teach, Learn, Share

Regarding what I could share, I guess almost-organized words is what I can share the most easily.
They could be about discussing about what surprizing idea you had yesterday, what books we are reading (and why), how did you get to appreciate your neighborhood or what surprised me today.
I guess I have a couple of interesting stories, or that I can recommend art or ideas that sparked my curiosity.

I could share a bit about math or quantum physics or informatics, how to repair a bicycle or how to play bike polo, if those are things you'd like to learn about (but I might be a terrible teacher, as I tend to favor lenghty conceptual explanations that go in many directions). I appreciate to distribute the few knowled

Or maybe the most relevant would be to teach you how to decypher Montréal's slang.

If it suits you to share your favorite song, what matter to you at the moment, what places you like in the surrounding or manage to teach me 2 german sentences, I would be extremely happy.

What I Can Share with Hosts

If I could benefit from the gentle provision of a mattress, couch or simply a corner in a heated room for any duration between one night and a week, I would already be very generous.

If you would like to join me for a bicycle ride or a walk, or a drink, I'm also up to spend a bit of time sharing time, and I appreciate very much to discuss with new people and to learn about the worlds they live with. And of course, I would be pleased to prepare a plant based meal to share.
