Overview
About Me
I'm a laid-back guy from Northern Germany, which is also where I live now (after having spent the previous 15 years living in Canada, Denmark, Switzerland, Munich and Berlin). My roots to my home have always been strong and I love the place where I live now (as I have loved all the other places where I have lived before). Still, my job allows me to get my fair share of city life every 2 weeks (in Frankfurt), and I of course still love a nice travel a few times a year.
Usually, I think I'm quite cheerful (of course, the occasional grumpiness can't be always avoided :-P), love to smile, be around good people and all types of animals. But I find it rather difficult to describe myself, so you'll probably be better off reading some of my references from other Couchsurfers.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have been on Couchsurfing for about 15 years. I was very active during my student years and first years of worklife. I haven't used it as much since it became a paid service, but still love the idea behind it, as I've made many friends through it and I've had lots of memorable great experiences.
So would love to get a little more into it again.
Interests
I love being outside, whether it is by the seaside, in the forest, in the mountains or in the garden. When traveling, my passion is exploring other countries by train if possible (soaking in the landscapes and the people). But I also of course do enjoy hiking, cycling and roadtrips as alternatives. Cultural activities can also catch my interest (especially theater, concerts, photo exhibitions), and I also make sure to give some room for mindful activities such as yoga, dancing tango, breathwork, and giving or receiving massages. One of my favorite things is to connect with people: it can be anything from just exchanging a smile or a short exchange at the supermarket all the way to hours with wine and conversations with new friends and longlasting friendships.
With regards to company, I usually need some time for myself to serve my quiet side, but an hour later love to have people around me for sillyness and laughter. I like dogs AND cats, but not a big fan of neither coffee nor tea (Yes, there are people out there like that ;-))

Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite bands: I am Giant, Billy Talent, No Te Va Gustar, Orishas, la Vela Puerca, La Caravane Passe, Dubioza Kolektiv, Johnny Cash, IAM (so a mixture of rock, balkan, country, french hip hop)
My favorite movies & series: "Friends", Scandinavian thriller series, "Her", "Hostiles", Hercule Poirot with David Duchet
Books: more non-fiction reader... books about self-development, relationships, trains, cookbooks (even though I'm still no great cook...), but also the occasional fiction (I like the Scandinavian crime novels by Hjorth and Rosenfeldt, for example)
Teach, Learn, Share
as I love traveling by rail and have traveled more than 30 European countries by train, I can tell you about many scenic train rides in Europe. I love to learn and practice foreign languages (especially Spanish) and share good music from all over the world.
