ABOUT ME

Hm, I'm most probably not the type of fellow you might have in mind when thinking of a typical German.
People describe me as a friendly, cheerful and openminded fellow who actually get's along well with nearly everyone for I never jugde people from the first sight.
I'm actually multisided and interested in many different things and new experiences. If something doesn't suits me, well, at least I tried out. I think that is the price you pay for getting to know new things you like. I try to absorb knowledge everytime I encounter something new, so I can sing (well, I think "knowing the lyrics" is the better description) stupid party songs as well recite a bit of Shakespeare.
At the moment I am studying at the technical university in Munich after having finished my community service in an old peoples' home where I worked with patients suffering from dementia. I think this was a very valuable experience, for it made me pensive. It really was a completely different task compared to what I am doing now and I don't want to miss this time.

PHILOSOPHY

Hm, I definitely prefer smiling broadly to thinking narrow.
I want to do my mistakes by action and not by waiting. I think I can bear any mistake I actually made, but not every mistake from missing something.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'd love to meet new people and show them around in Munich, for I am living close by.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I travelled down the Eastern Coast of the US in March with my mate Robert and it was amazing, INSANE (right Tannah ;-). I had no idea that it would be that great. We were invited to house parties and cook-outs, but also to a German class in a suburban High School, we made S'mores over a camp fire and ate at Vanity's. It was really one of the greatest times of my life.

Interests

Since I started playin the guitar one and half year ago I'm practicing every day.
I like doing sports like jogging or swimming and diving (I'm in the local lifeguard of my village near the lake Constance). I also like to go fishing with friends when I'm back home. Furthermore I enjoy reading good books and building rc-aeroplanes.
One of my passions is preparing/drinking coffee. During the last period of exams in university I improved my latte macchiato tremendiously ;-).

Music, Movies, and Books

I just love the book "The perfect storm" by Sebastian Junger, I've read it about five times in German and twice in English. Everytime I finished it I wanted to start all over again. Furthermore I really enjoyed "Kon Tiki" by Thor Heyerdahl. I think it's really impressive that he dared to travel about 7000 k's on a wooden float though everybody told him that he couldn't
A great movie in my eyes is "Merry Christmas". It's a rather unknown German/Belgian/French production. WWI: German, French and Scottish soldiers make friends after months of fierce fights during the Christmas holidays. It was so touching that people stayed in their seats long after the light has turned on in the cinema.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I couldn't find any sleep when camping in nature in Sweden, so I decided to stay up and have a look at the dawn. It was great sitting in complete silence and watching the sun breaking through the mists hanging over the entirely peaceful lake.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you to cook real Swabian "kaesspaetzle" (i.e. cheesespaetzle). But I don't want to hear you complaining because your entirely stuffed ;-).
Naturally I can help you with your German and a show you of my guitar knowledge.
I'd love to try out catching lobster by diving for them.
