Overview
About Me
I currently live in Victoria, BC, from where my work allows me to be out on the water around Vancouver Island. Officially, I work in Edmonton and Toronto; somehow it works. I'm passionate about science, and I also love making art, producing food, hanging out around boats, biking. I try to be somewhat self-reliant and reduce my impacts on the planet. ...at least when I don't have to fly intercontinentally. I enjoy having conversations with a variety of people about nearly anything.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I want to use CS as a means to meet new people, see new places, learn about new cultures. In my experience, couchsurfing has allowed much more interesting connections to people and places than I would otherwise hope for.

Music, Movies, and Books
I tend to like independent/folk/bluegrass. For some reason, I find it hard to resist the banjo....
Books and movies: I'd say my favourite genre is "poignant but hilarious," and a touch of SciFi doesn't hurt.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My (rental) car was once surrounded by a pride of lions. The photo is surreal. Realizing that I was hanging halfway out of the car to take it was even more so.
Teach, Learn, Share
Take your pick from the interests section; from statistical modelling to luthiery. My most technical knowledge is in the biological sciences (you might have guessed), but I'm happy to share anything I know. I love to cook and am always interested in learning/teaching how to make great food.
