About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Waiting to start my job, then start saving, THEN have enough money to visit new places, or revisit ones I love. Unless I start saving for a mortgage or something :/

ABOUT ME

My main passion is photography - I love taking photos of where I've been and sharing it with those who couldn't be there with me, wherever "there" might be. I am pretty lazy however, so many photos tend to stay on my hard drive or camera, unsorted. I also love to travel, and take any opportunity to go somewhere, new or old. Trouble is, most opportunities I get only occur during vacation periods. The other difficulty is that both travelling and photography can be quite expensive hobbies, so I'm currently looking for slightly cheaper alternatives!

PHILOSOPHY

If I haven't tried something, and an opportunity presents itself, I'll try it!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At the moment, I mainly want to be able to help people discover wherever I might be living - be it Hong Kong, Birmingham, Durham or elsewhere. Of course, I am also looking for any spare couches going, but right now it's easier for me to stay in HK and accept any visitors that might need showing around and a free place to kip.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted a variety of people while in Hong Kong, all of whom were awesome and fun to be around. I even hosted someone for their birthday once!! Haven't hosted for just over a year now, looking forward to the next time I might travel or host.

Interests

Aside from those I've already mentioned, I don't really have any I've settled on. I'm one of those guys who tries something, and gets bored of it within a couple weeks. I've tried out powerkiting, swimming, snooker, clarinet, piano, badminton and fencing, to name a few, and all have lasted anywhere from a month to a couple of years. I'm currently giving mixing and composition a go, and I'm finding it quite enjoyable. I'm also a dab hand with computers, and if I ever get bored of mixing music I think I'll move onto learning Cantonese. Or salsa/ballroom dancing. Or guitar. Who knows?! Also trying to get myself to go to the gym and sort some of my moving boxes, but I never seem to quite get round to it...

Music, Movies, and Books

I love action, thriller and drama films - stuff like The Matrix, Shawshank Redemption, Truman Show and Cast Away. I absolutely adore Pixar films as well, fall in love with their films every time I see one. Personal favourites are Finding Nemo and Wall·E.
I really enjoy dance music, rock, acoustic and classical. Ludovico Einaudi is probably my favourite classical musician, and I can't get enough of Moby.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Possibly the road trip I did around Europe, followed by the mini tour I did of the US in 2007. That summer really opened my eyes to the world, gave me my passion for travelling, and fueled the passion I already had for photography. Going around and seeing so many different kinds of people and culture in the space of 2 months was a huge experience, especially being able to spend 3 weeks in 4 different parts of America alone. That's when I realised I was truly an independent person.
