About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Some just want to be. I want to become.

ABOUT ME

I moved to Seattle from back East (upstate NY) after finishing up grad school a couple of years ago and I can honestly say I Looove this town! Really trying to utilize the awesome topography around here. It just screams to be climbed/swam/ran across/camped/etc.

I love seeing new cities, meeting new people, going out, seeing new music, you name it. I also love to be as active as I can, playing any sport you can think of with particular emphasis on esoteric made up games like slapong! That and building obstacle courses.

PHILOSOPHY

If a human being did not have an eternal consciousness, if underlying everything there were only a wild, fermenting power that writhing in dark passions produced everything, be it significant or insignificant, if a vast, never appeased emptiness is beneath everything, what would life be then but despair?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Couch surfing is a great way to meet the coolest people on the face of this planet in great new places. I've only had awesomely positive experiences. I love surfing with people and sharing ideas and experiences with them. I relish in the exchange that takes place between people of different cultures. Traveling is my meditation (along with running and meditation!).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far I've met up with some people for coffee/drinks and surfed a buncha couches and it's been such a great way to meet new people and see awesome cities. Also had a couple choice surfers over to stay at my pad...fun!

Interests

Rock climbing, sports (racquetball or tennis anyone?), philosophy, socializing, motorcycles, traveling, coffee, bars, video games, new things, new people, new places, sky diving, anything that gets your adrenaline going, etc.

More recently, I must confess some of my friends here got me into some kick ass board games. Namely, Dominion, Catan and 7 wonders. Let's play!

Music, Movies, and Books

Any existential philosopher's work (Nietzsche, Sartre, Camus, etc), Kahlil Gibran!

I love, I love, I love music. Some of the stuff that makes my blood boil and ears orgasm: Modest mouse, Shins, Dodos, Animal Collective, Ratatat, Explosions in the Sky, Phoenix, Neutral Milk Hotel, Iron and Wine, Manchester Orchestra, Arcade Fire, Etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Let's be honest, there are tons of awesome things in this world, and I've been around enough to see a bunch of them. And not to get sappy here, but there is nothing that I've done that's more amazing than falling in love. Most amazing thing ever. And maybe it doesn't end up working out...but that doesn't take away from the fact that I think it's the most important and fulfilling experience a human being can have. It's about connection. I think that's what couch surfing is about too...connection.
