About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To have some Couch-fun! In Amsterdam and in other parts of this world
ABOUT ME
I am a 39 year old guy living in Amsterdam, one of the nicest little villages in the world (in global perspective it is so difficult to call it a city). I love Amsterdam, therefor I love to welcome other to see it and use my couch and maybe some guiding from me to fall in love with Amsterdam also.
I currently work in my neighborhood, where I run a not-for-profit organisation. We teach children in disadvantaged neighborhoods how to make their own theatre plays. For instance we teach them in 10 weeks to write their own, individual, play. Those plays are then performed by professional, volunteer actors, in a real theatre in the neighbourhood, where 200-555 people come watch these plays.
For my former work, development issues in relation to mining and natural resource extraction, I have had the luck to travel in Southern Africa, where I have met a lot of friends, and where I have experienced the hospitality of people. Friends welcome you in their homes, where you meet new friends and where you really learn to know the places you visit.
PHILOSOPHY
There is to much fear, hatred and animosity on a global level. Why don't we meet and clear this al up!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I will open house for others as I hope to be welcomed in the houses of others. And anyone who wants to chat, or get some tips on Amsterdam of other places in the Netherlands are more than welcome. And coffee is always an option.
Take note: I am not here to host last-minute people who couldn't find a hostel, or who want to save some money. Hosting for me is about the experience of meeting interesting people.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
So far, in general I have had lots of fun with couchsurfing. Not so much as a surfer yet, but hosting has been brilliant. Except from 2 no-shows all my experiences were real fun.

Visited the Ngorogoro crater in Tanzania, the most awesome wildlife ever!
Fallen in love with Lesvos, been there 3 times in 2016, for holiday and to meet and work with the refugees there. An experience I hope I would have never had, yet also one that I would not want to have missed. Heaven and hell combined in one place!
