About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to slow down enough to enjoy the view but never ever stop

ABOUT ME

After many years of free and independent living, interspersed by random and impulsive travel, I finally and suddenly settled down..! I am now married, with two stepchildren and my young son, so things have slowed down a bit for me.... for now! Still commuting as much as possible by bike, teaching the young one to pedal, and aiming for a big adventure again in a few more years.

PHILOSOPHY

"It is not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves."
(Sir Edmund Hillary)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have mostly travelled on my own, and enjoyed meeting people, sharing moments, and forming friendships along the way. This is very important to me and one of my main motivations for travel.
I find it therefore equally enriching to share moments with travellers that come to NZ, learn from them and contribute what I can to their experience.
Unfortunately we have a full house until the new year and the fold out couch is in our daughter's room, so we are not able to host you. Happy to share a coffee or help with info in the meantime though....

Interests

Hiking/tramping, cycle touring, sustainable living, social goodness - generally prefer to be outside, especially if the sun is shining. I'm enjoying looking after and learning about my animals on our new lifestyle block. Would like to find more time to read. Interesting foods, interesting people, interesting conversations. Don't like TV, do like playing Risk (the board game).
