Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've recently joined this site and am amazed at how much it has opened up the world to millions of people. It gives people who normally wouldn't have traveled, the courage to dare step out into the unknown. Above all, it affords one a chance to meet with and engage in cultural exchanges with people of various countries - again, something which would not ordinarily be possible during the course of the busy lives most people lead.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've recently surfed when we visited the USA. Loved it! Although we've traveled overseas before, we've stayed in other accommodation and had a good time. But this trip was fabulous! I put it down to the time we spent with fellow couchsurfers and the interesting conversations, tips and advice that inevitably followed. Of course, we've hosted before but not people from this site. However, we can't do so any longer because we need to take off at a moment's notice (the hazards of our jobs!) which isn't conducive to hosting. I wish we could pay it forward. Maybe someday soon...
