ABOUT ME
I'm an open-minded, easy-going dude from urban Wisconsin. Love to travel, to cook and eat, to cycle, to play squash, to meet adventurous, curious fellow humanoids. Studied civil engineering, architecture, sustainable development in Minnesota, USA and Utrecht, The Netherlands. During my undergrad years I had the opportunity to work with some cool students while helping run a chapter of Engineers Without Borders and working on Uganda and Haiti water and sanitation projects. Couch surfed in the Netherlands, Spain and India (twice) during my master's and built awesome friendships along the way.
PHILOSOPHY
Live life to learn, read, talk, listen, be curious.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Ensuring couches are never lonely, learning as I go.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Couch surfed in Utrecht, the Netherlands for 1 month before moving in with my awesome hosts, Tim and Cris! This was one of the most excellent couch surfing experiences I could have hoped for, especially a first. Surfed in Delhi many times on another awesome experience. Then surfed at Panjab University-Chandigarh where I ended up staying while working on part of my thesis. I made many good friends through all these experiences.
Interests
I strongly enjoy: cycling, anything outdoors, dogs, new experiences and adventures, travel, light, the Himalayas, tiramisu, thunderstorms, solar power, learning, whisky, mind exploration, African drums, lakes and seas (sorry rivers and streams), delicious and fresh food, maps, IPAs, fascinating stories, squash, npr, not owning a tv, Nepal, Whitest Boy Alive concerts, strong coffee, big cats and tiny elephants, Indian food, cosmology, Shantaram, the sun.
I am made crabby by: shopping malls, hummers, chocolate cake that looks like but is not bete noir, sitting idle, hunger.

Music, Movies, and Books
I enjoy listening to many types of music from reggae to jazz to rock. Bob Marley is always at the top of my most listened to list. I enjoy reading adventure stories and the world news.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
-Northern lights over Lake Superior in mid-July from a rocky cove on Isle Royale, a national park a few miles off the coast of Canada. Beautiful!
-Hitch hiking/riding at night in the back of a lorry in Uganda with stars above, cool breeze passing and fields burning all around.
-New Years Eve 2009 with 5,000+ Haitians at public concert by Belo and Rosemond in the streets of Cap Haitien, Haiti
-2009 UNESCO youth conference in Paris
-Himalayan mountain tops, remote Buddhist monasteries, dal bhat in Nepal
-Village research in northern India
Teach, Learn, Share
Take every opportunity and make it your own. Think always how you can make improvements, how you can make changes for the better, how you can share a bit of you and adopt a bit of your friends.
