ABOUT ME

I'm a teacher currently living and working in China. I have previously taught English in Quebec, France, and Japan. I enjoy meeting people, especially those from different places. When I travel, I like to experience a place and what it has to offer off of the regular path and couch surfing seems like a fantastic way to do that.

PHILOSOPHY

I can't sum it up with just one phrase, so I'll use two: "Try everything once" and "live and let live". Basically, I'm an easy going guy who likes to meet new people, learn new things, and try new things.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been around for a while, but it's been a bit of a dry spell. I have not participated much in the recent past but my experiences with Couchsurfing have been fantastic. I'm hoping to continue that while I'm in Japan.

Interests

My interests go far and wide. Literature, film, the outdoors, culture in all of its forms, electronics, video games, and much more.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Completely eclectic. It really depends on my mood, but some of my favourites are Ender's Game, Life of Pi, Animal farm, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Kite Runner, and many others.

Movies: Again, horribly eclectic but a few are
Into the Wild, Last of the Mohicans, The Mission, Stand by Me, The Departed, Casablanca, and Savior among others.

Music: Not much I don't like. Folk, Rock, Indie,Hip Hop, it's all good.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A few things I suppose. Growing up in BC, I was fortunate in that I was afforded many opportunities to experience world class outdoor/mountain activities. Skiing Whistler more times than I can count and climbing some of the best mountains in the world come to mind. Also, I was fortunate enough to take a helicopter ride around the Grand Canyon.
