About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Travel the country and gain experience to be a better writer.
ABOUT ME
I wrote this as my description when I first joined CS:
I am a young, burgeoning writer (and photographer) travelling the country in search of stories and lasting impressions. Actually I'm really just more of a drifter, but I just wanted to say "burgeoning." Also, I have too much imagination which will probably keep me from actually doing anything substantial in my lifetime. You can call me Space Cowboy if you like, though I have never been referred to nor do I know anyone called Maurice.
As I travel the country I will mainly be looking for places where I can spend a night, and meet some interesting folks. Someone who knows a little about the culture of the surrounding area will make an ideal host. Or anyone who just has some good humor and cool stories to share. I am easy-going, clean, and open to new ideas and experiences. I enjoy meeting people of all different backgrounds, cultures, ambitions, and personality sets.
...So that is what I wrote about a year ago. Now I am stuck in FL. Since then I haven't really used CS or even looked at my profile. Living in the ghettos of FL has destroyed my spirit. Now when I look at what I wrote about myself it really annoys me. I find that most things annoy me now since I have been living in Fl. Maybe that is because I haven't been traveling or doing anything interesting, or maybe it is because of FL, or maybe I just suck.
I don't know if I have much use for CS now, but if you happen to be in Miami or the Keys or someone in S FL, and you see my profile and think I don't suck and that FL doesn't suck, then maybe you can write to me and explain why.
PHILOSOPHY
(This is more stuff I wrote which now annoys me)
I have two all-encompassing philosophies. In order of importance:
2. It's not what you accumulate but what you CREATE that truly counts.
1. Everything is better with sauce.
Also, like most people, I'll proably remain an idealist until I get sick of being poor. At which time, having no discernable talents I will most likely resort to drugs, prostitution, or petty theft. JUST KIDDING! hopefully.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am no longer new to this site. It has been useful in the past.
However I am just an average American lad from New Hampshire, so I really don't know how interesting I am to all the couch surfers and world travelers out there.
If you do ever end up hosting me, I usually enjoy drinking tea or hard liquor (just fyi).
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Although, I do want to emphasize that when I am lucky enough to be invited into a host's home, no matter what the accomadations, I try to be as respectful as possible and I hope that people I have surfed with and will surf with in the future are left with that impression. (Though once you get to know me I can be a bit ridiculous at times, and I suppose the stuff that I write usually reflects that).
Interests
Ask to see some of my pictures. I already have a lot of decent ones so far from my tavels.
(...not like that is a cliche)
I also like movies a lot.
- cats
- culture
- writing
- drinking
- movies
- traveling
- socializing
Music, Movies, and Books
I read "Into the Wild" when I first started out on my little excursion. I thought it was a fascinating book, but I promise I'm not one of those 'into the woods' manifesto-writing whackos. There are times when I like to be alone or off in the wilderness, and I definitely see the romance in it. But mainly I just want to experience how different people live in different places throughout the country and become more in tune with societies and cultures at large.(AMERICA IS MY HOME, and I don't know enough about it).
I've also been trying to read a lot of the classics that I never got around to: "The Catcher in the Rye," "1984," and I'm diving into some Hemingway in preparation for my trip to Key West. And I like photography books, though there is no substitute for experience.
I like great movies and music mainly from the 70s.
...And I hope my spaceship knows which way to go-oh-whoa-ohhh.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The last thing?...
Well... I may or may not have gotten drunk one night and acquired a Hemingway cat... depending on your views about the rambunxious thievery of kitties.
