About Me

CURRENT MISSION
We want to meet people from different countries and travel the world.

ABOUT ME
I like meeting new people. I love animals, gardening, traveling, good food, good music and my wonderful husband, Bernie. We like to hike, enjoy water activities (we own a boat) and outdoor festivals. I grew up in the Navy and have spent most of my life on the coast (Hawaii, VA, FL, SC and CA). Bernie and I have been together since 1987. We took our vacations in the mountains for many years but now we like to go to big cities. We also enjoy nature. I have 5 great girl friends and we are the "Hot Chics". We are all over 40 and successful in life. We love to celebrate life and enjoy people. Life is good.

PHILOSOPHY

Live life to the fullest. Always stop to smell the roses.
Treat others as you would like to be treated. Do stuff.
House chores come after fun and adventure

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We have hosted cyclists from all over the world. Also people who walk or run across the US. We host traveling bands driving their vans. We've hosted tent campers, dogs, and even horses. We have a large yard that is fenced and have a fire pit. We love to cook southern food for our guests. If you have the time and we are open (weekends), we can take you to New Orleans or on a tour of the Gulf Coast waters.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I mostly host but I really want to travel more and surf couches.
I don't participate in CS because I need a free place to stay. I can afford a hotel. I do it because I love meeting new people from different places and making new friends.
If I'm sending you a request to surf on your couch, it is because I want a better experience in your town and I want to bond with the locals.
I am okay with people who participate because they need a free place to stay. I am very generous, especially if you share your stories and life experiences with me (be open). I have been blessed in this life and I don't mind sharing.

Music, Movies, and Books

Sci-fi movies, books and shows
Fantasy books (dragons, magic and alternate worlds)
I love all kinds of music. I guess I am a rocker at heart but I love the blues, bluegrass, techno, anything acoustical, Jimi Hendricks, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Kenny Wayne Sheppard, the Beatles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Outlaws, AC/DC, Cat Stevens, Eagles, No Doubt, Pink Floyd, and Joss Stone (discovered her in Germany in 2004 and told my husband we would be hearing her in the US and sure enough 2 yrs later she was topping the US charts). I enjoy jazz and R&B also. I love to hear new music from other countries. Original tunes from musicians are the best. I also listen to some mainstream pop but I don't talk about that much.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Swimming with stingrays in the Cayman Islands
Sky diving from 14,000 feet
I used to teach computer programming and it was so amazing to see a student "get it" and achieve their full potential.
Loved deeply and recived more love in return. I'm the lucky one in my relationship.
I helped to put together a Mardi Gras krewe called the Krewe of Tunes. Just a bunch of broke musicians who wanted to have a parade float (1967 International bus, chopped) so we could play music while riding in a parade drinking, throwing beads and getting crazy.
I've seen the most beautiful fall landscapes from the top of mountains and frolicked in fields of flowers. You have not lived until you have seen a field of tulips in full bloom. Mother nature makes the most beautiful colors.
Swam with 1,000 star fish "walking" (more like flipping) across the bottom of the ocean floor.
Seen the most amazing meteor showers.
At age 7, blinded in one eye by a thrown rock, grew into who I am now dealing with the adversity.
I have the most amazing group of friends (6 hot chicks) who love me for who I am.
Oh I was supposed to just list 1 thing?? oops
