About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Connection with people and places

ABOUT ME

I have the happiest veterinary clinic in Northwest Montana, just down the road from Kalispell and within sight of Glacier National Park. My specialty is acupuncture and chiropractic for pets and horses. My family has always been my priority, and next comes music. I play hammered dulcimer in a Celtic band, Tra le Gael. I also play in the Tropical Montana Marimba Ensemble, lively dance music from Zimbabwe and the Pacific Northwest. I have been studying Spanish for a few years, and became conversant in Turkish in anticipation of travel there; then did the same with Thai. When I travel I like to do something productive and that usually means helping with spay / neuter projects for pets and stray animals. I started a research project in Cuba testing for feline retroviruses, because no one else has done it and I think it matters.

PHILOSOPHY

My friend Justo has a toast -- youth and good looks we have more than enough, enough to give away.
It's a light comment but speaks to a larger issue -- we live in abundance. No matter how much there is, there's enough to share.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have surfed in Ecuador, Bangkok, Calgary, Beirut, Paris and Turkey and all were successful on many levels. I'm hooked.
Now that I'm home for awhile I've been hosting surfers myself, and I am loving that just as much. I have met some of the most interesting and wonderful people.
What a great way to make friends and exchange kindness in this world.

Interests

Music! I play music pretty much every chance I get, either performing or just playing for fun with my best friends. Contradancing, hiking, skiing, reading, and recently knitting, which makes it so one is never just waiting, for example at airports. I love languages, and enjoy learning more all the time.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music -- Lau, Guidewires, Bonnie Raitt, Moody Blues, Rickie Lee Jones, Eva Cassidy, and most recently, the Hamilton soundtrack!

Movies and TV -- Sherlock, Firefly, and especially now, every bit of The West Wing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One night, in my own front yard, I watched the tie dyed sky swirling with the colors of the northern lights. It was so powerful you could almost hear it.

Teach, Learn, Share

One of my greatest joys is to introduce people to the hammered dulcimer, give them a tour and then turn them loose. Some talents have been unleashed this way.

What I Can Share with Hosts

It's always hard to find time to go to Glacier National Park, except when I have guests. Please come and make me go hiking with you!
