About Me

Summer 2008: I started to host, meet the Barcelona CS community, organise events, these were amazing times!

CS pretty much changed my life: I met many of the persons who are still my friends here, learned from getting exposed to people from different backgrounds and lifestyles, built confidence to start traveling and backpacking alone, creating wonderful memories... a dynamic still pretty much alive in my life to this day.

I always tried to keep the balance between how much I received from this community, and how much I gave back.

I am not hosting anymore because half of the couch requests, messages and friend requests I receive now are trash, and after going through that amount of screening, half the people I host still don't care, with a few being even a pain in the ass (nothing very serious but CS doesn't offer the neutral reference anymore). I don't know if it's because Barcelona is a mass tourism destination, or because we now all tend to take everything for granted... It's a pity because there are still amazing people around, but now I'd rather focus my energies on something more meaningful to me, like climate activism. If it's also your concern and area of action, contact me on BW where I do accept guests.

***MISSION***

Get ready for whatever is coming. Meaning I am currently taking a deep dive into climate change and trying to understand how I can sum up in the fight against it (better late than never!). That also means lifestyle changes: drastic reduction in animal products, drastic reduction in residues, clothes swap and second hand, hardly any flying, invest some time and energy in activism, and slow travel by hiking, drawing, painting, learning, conversations, silence, and contemplation.

***PHILOSOPHY***

Why? Why not?!
The grass might not be greener... but it has a different colour, and I love colours!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am not hosting anymore on CS, but keep the profile as reference

Interests

All aspects of food: science, history, culture, supply chain, environment, ethics. I enjoy cooking and spend a significant time between cooking classes, experiments in my kitchen, cooking for myself and friends. I am also getting into guerilla cooking! Ok, let's be honest, it's an obsession!

I do 'stuff' like: pilates, swimming, hiking... learning Catalan, drawing, watercolour

Music, Movies, and Books

Hot Chip, Amélie Nothomb, The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, Vikings, political satires (e.g. Colbert) and a long list of other (old) stuff... but these days I am trying to be a bit more an actor of my life, and less a spectator

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The experiences taking me out of my comfort zone, like some involving volcanoes, hiking alone and/or Japan (the 3 together = crazy memories!)

Teach, Learn, Share

Any meaningful conversation about the state of the world and the human condition. Food as a mean to sustain our bodies, souls, hearts, identities, countrysides, memories, etc...

What I Can Share with Hosts

Cooking, share a meal and drink out, bring food back
