About Me
ABOUT ME
I am a friendly college student who is going to be studying abroad in Europe this fall. I'm excited to see new places, meet new people, and travel! I like to spend time with friends and family, go out to eat, watch movies and television and go to fun events and parties. I consider myself introverted, although I definitely do need social interaction with close friends to thrive. I'm really into talking about TV shows and movies. And sometimes video games, although I don't devote much time to them. I suppose that's a summary of me. Kind of.
I'm am a rising junior at UNC. I'm studying Communications with a minor in Global Cinema and a minor in Women and Gender Studies. I don't know what I want to do with my degree yet. This fall I'm going to be studying abroad - I'm really excited because it'll be my first time out of the country. My new passport is finally going to get some stamps!
I'm thinking I'd like to take a year or two after college for a fellowship or volunteer opportunity before going to grad school. I'd like to get some new experiences and figure out what I'd like to study in post-grad.
Knitting. I can knit a scarf in 6 hours. It isn't the most beautiful or ritzy scarf, but it gets the job done. I'd like to take up crochet and cross-stitching as well. My cousin accused me of being an 80-year old woman, but whatevs because I like to craft.
PHILOSOPHY
"Being tender and open is beautiful. As a woman, I feel continually shhhâed. Too sensitive. Too mushy. Too wishy washy. Blah blah. Donât let someone steal your tenderness. Donât allow the coldness and fear of others to tarnish your perfectly vulnerable beating heart. Nothing is more powerful than allowing yourself to truly be affected by things. Whether itâs a song, a stranger, a mountain, a rain drop, a tea kettle, an article, a sentence, a footstep, feel it all â look around you. All of this is for you. Take it and have gratitude. Give it and feel love." - Zooey Deschanel
I honestly believe in being open. It is the only way that we can truly connect with other people and grow as human beings.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love, love, love watching television. Shows currently on the air that I watch: Girls, Game of Thrones, Mad Men, New Girl, Cougar Town, Parks and Rec, Community, Glee, Happy Endings, The Walking Dead, Awkward., Misfits, Adventure Time, Regular Show. Classic/Canceled shows: Friends, Arrested Development, Gilmore Girls, My So-Called Life, Party Down, Pushing Daisies, Don't Trust the B----- in Apt. 23, etc., etc.
I also enjoy watching movies and am actually a Global Cinema minor. I like a lot of different films and I find it more difficult to name specific films. I like Hitchcock, Jimmy Stewart, Keira Knightly, foreign films with subtitles, black and white cinema, and on and on.
I like to read as well. I don't get to read very much for pleasure during the school year, but I love to read on breaks. For the longest time, my favorite book was Ella Enchanted (and not because of the terrible movie it inspired). I didn't realize until years later that it was just a retelling of Cinderella. I like almost anything by Meg Cabot (author of The Princess Diaries). I, of course, love Harry Potter with a freakish and almost fanatic devotion. I really liked the "His Dark Materials" trilogy by Philip Pullman. I'm a little behind on what's "current" in the literary world. I'd be interested in some recommendations.
I like trying new restaurants and new foods. I also really enjoy cooking, although I hate cleaning up afterwards. I recently discovered a new love for sushi.
Music: She & Him, Feist, A Fine Frenzy, The Beatles, Ellie Goulding, Cat Stevens, Elton John, Simon & Garfunkel, Mariah Carey, Camera Obscura, Ke$ha, Taylor Swift, Sleigh Bells, Adele, Jewel, Acid House Kings, Rilo Kiley, Ashlee Simpson (no shame), Beyoncé, Eminem, Bon Iver, Cults, Fleet Foxes, Florence + The Machine, Gregory and the Hawk, Imagine Dragons, Harry Nilsson, The Killers, Wistful 40's ballads, Maroon 5, Michael Bublé, Mumford and Sons, Of Monsters and Men, Paula Cole, Alanis Morissette, Queen, The Smiths, The Secret Sisters, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Whitney Houston, The Cranberries, Edith Piaf, Ella Fitzgerald, and more.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I went parasailing and it was a great experience! It inspired me to want to check out skydiving someday.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can knit and I like to craft. I also know a lot about American TV.
