One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent a week in March 2011 working on a service project in rural Honduras through Global Public Health Brigades. A team of Indiana University students and I worked alongside two families to improve the infrastructure of their homes, and to promote good health practices. With these families, we built latrines, concrete floors, eco-stoves, and pilas (water storage units). One of my favorite things about this organization and the experience is that we had a very intimate connection with the families with whom we were working the entire week. They, along with other community members, were instrumental in the process of renovating their homes. We were able to get to know them not just as the people who we were there to help, but as humans, as families who are striving to make sustainable improvements in their lives.

Teach, Learn, Share

Interested in learning: a little bit about a lot of things! I'll see, try, experience, or taste anything once. In particular though, I'm interested in learning the basics of any language, how to play guitar, and how to cook regional food
