About Me

CURRENT MISSION

9 years in the Army, with deployments to Kosovo and Iraq. I keep the railroad moving. Passionate about music.

ABOUT ME

Check out my interests. That should pretty much describe everything. Especially the music. I'm a computer nerd, but not in a nerdy way. I love travelling anywhere. Every town has its own charm (except Council Bluffs, IA. There is no charm there). I've made my way through Europe a couple times, spent 8 months in Kosovo, a year in Iraq, with side trips to Qatar and Kuwait, ventured through Peru, cruised to the Bahamas, and am always planning more weekend trips though the States. I'm an avid music festival attendee (mostly punk rock and metal).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I used to host people all the time, but I moved into a downtown loft where there just isn't much privacy (i.e. doors). If you can't find anybody, I can probably host. I just don't have the best accommodations anymore.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couchsurfed in Slovenia with some amazing people, and got a tour of Zagreb, Croatia. Also stayed with some rad people in Baltimore.

I have hosted people from all over the States, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Russia, and Denmark.

Interests

Computer Science, Mathematics, C, Java, PHP, ColdFusion, Punk Rock, Metal (death/black/blackend death/grind/metalcore), guitar, Linux, sushi, whiskey, beer, cigars, running marathons and ultramarathons.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies don't do much for me. I like the long format of good TV shows like Breaking Bad, Dexter, Californication, Weeds, How I Met Your Mother, House of Cards, Lillyhammer, Arrested Development, etc.

Music: My taste has shifted in recent years from mostly punk to mostly metal, though I have always loved both and will probably continue to.

Hot Water Music, Bad Religion, Q and Not U, American Steel, Every Time I Die, Dillinger Escape Plan, Atom and His Package, Lamb of God, His Hero Is Gone, Strike Anywhere, Against Me!, Planes Mistaken For Stars, He Is Legend, Rage Against the Machine, the Lawrence Arms, The Draft, As Friends Rust, Rumbleseat, Between the Burried and Me, Cardinal Sin, Avail, Strikeforce: Diablo, Whiskey & Co., Murder By Death, Small Brown Bike, Portugal. the Man, Claire de Lune, Converge, Old Man Gloom, Defiance, Ohio, Minus the Bear, Lucero, Mastadon, Sundowner, the Falcon, Tragedy, Chuck Ragan, Tim Barry, Behemoth , Austin Lucas, Chris Wollard and the Ship Thieves, Carcass, Hate, Immortal, Pig Destroyer, Napalm Death, Tim Kasher, Mayhem, Solstafir, Kampfar, Goatwhore, At The Gates

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Snowboarding at the ski resort in Kosovo.
Sleeping under the Eiffel Tower. Walking 6 miles with a 30 lb. backpack in the pouring rain to get to the bus stop in Paris after I ran out of money. Petting camels and smoking hookahs in Qatar. Seeing the monasteries in Bulgaria. Climbing a mountain in Cusco, Peru to get a view of Machu Picchu. Seeing humpback whales in Mexico. Taking shots with Behemoth on Barge to Hell.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you lots about Computer Science, and a little bit about Mathematics. I can probably show you some stuff on the guitar.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Drinks and food! Show me where the good bars and restaurants are, I'm buying!

I am a very respectful, low-maintenance, and self-sufficient guest.
