About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Stick around one place for a while.
ABOUT ME
Trying to find a balance of work and play, nomad and resident, relaxed and ambitious. Started a new job in Ketchikan Alaska in May 2013 and will be here for at least a couple years. Look forward to playing host for some passer-thrus.
PHILOSOPHY
I seek diverse experiences in my life.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
In the past I have used couchsurfing in the traditional way-- either asking for some company and a place to stay or offering it--but I'm really intrigued by the CS communities who get together on a regular basis.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've played the host and the hosted-- from London, to Indonesia, to Atlanta. Even took my own mother couchsurfing one time when she was helping me move across the country.
Interests
Certainly travel is at the top. More generally, I like adventures. Also climbing, cycling, skiing, cooking, attending various performances.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've climbed some mountains that make you feel like you're in the heavens- particularly Mt Moran and Gannett Peak.
Teach, Learn, Share
I have a few meals that I'm pretty good at and would be happy to share: jerk tofu; a great zucchini pasta dish an Italian roommate taught me; recently started making my own corn tortillas and tlacoyas/gorditas; pizza and dough.
I know a bit about marine navigation and piloting--both visual bearings and GPS, as well as some limited celestial navigation.
Countries I’ve Visited
Costa Rica, Indonesia, Ireland, Mexico, Nicaragua, Singapore, United Arab Emirates
Countries I’ve Lived In
China, Panama, United Kingdom, United States
