ABOUT ME

Waiting for the fish to bite or waiting for wind to fly a kite. Or waiting around for Friday night or waiting perhaps for their Uncle Jake or a pot to boil or a better break or a string of pearls or a pair of pants or a wig with curls or another chance. Everyone is just waiting. ~Dr. Seuss

My name is Alahna and I’m tired of waiting. Life is much too short to miss out. I love to read, cook, travel, and try new things. I like to read romance novels. Or books with, actual, historical facts weaved into a great story with wonderful characters. I love to get out a cookbook and try new recipes. If I like it, I will make it again and again while tweaking the recipe to get different flavors. I have also been known to hold ‘around the world’ nights where you pick a place, research it, and cook traditional entrees from there (or at least try, lol). Traveling is a blast. I love packing, the airplane ride (although I always get nervous on the take off), meeting and experiencing different cultures, LOVE the new cuisine, then heading back home with great memories. As far as trying new things, I’ll try anything once and if I like it- great. If not, then I’ll probably try it again just to make sure. I never want to miss out! I want to experience it all!

PHILOSOPHY

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skin in sideways, chocolate in hand, latte in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO, what a ride!"

I try to live life to the fullest and never want to look back and say, "Man, I wish I would have..." I love new cultural experiences and meeting people with similar or dissimilar thoughts about life; confirmation or debate about those issues can both be thought-provoking and entertaining.

Well, I just joined but I am willing to host, if needed. Willing to help in any way. I am also actively joining groups and, currently, trying to get a local group going for regular meet-ups.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've seen birth and I've seen death. I've jumped out of a perfectly good airplane and dived 60 feet underwater when I had glorious oxygen right above me. I've seen people help people with no other motive than to be there for another human being.
