About Me

Hi everyone! I'm Beata and currenty I run a mountain shelter, hostel and a small restaurant in the heart of Stołowe Mountains National Park. I've been living here since 2015, but honestly, I've fallen in love with this place much earlier. It’s my corner of the world.
I am an anthropologist of culture, but in my life I did quite different things: I was a front-end-developer, graphic designer and a photographer. I spent a lot of time to learn and discover the ideas of city space design and this is the reason why I visited some of the big European cities. I like to walk on unknown streets, look at people who deal with their own affairs and I always avoid museums and tourist routes. I hate them.
I like to think about myself that I am openminded. Sometimes I feel that I should be a hippie girl or the rock star, but something went wrong ;)

What else?
If somebody would ask me about the best or coolest time in my life I would answear: time after my 30th birthday. Okey, maybe I had some pretty cool adventures in high school, when I was a hitchhiker explorer, but only now I feel that everything is in the right place and is the best moment to make my dreams come true. So I made my motorcycle licence (I hope not to loose it ;) ) , I bought a old version of BMW F650GS and together we are going to explore the world :)

PHILOSOPHY?
People are good.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to try something new. So far, during the trip, I spent most of my time in hostels, camping or in the wild. Exluding few lonely trips to the Polish mountains, I always traveled with someone. Now I have only my motorbike and the people who I meet on the way. So, here I am.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love (really love) Julio Cortazar and Latin American books with this specific magical realism.
I like Zadie Smith and all postcolonial literature.
As part of the entertainment, I read criminals (I absolutly devouring them)
Music? It depends. Sometimes I prefer Damien Rice, Laura Henning and other delicate souds, sometimes I need something darkness: Unkle, PJ Harvey, Portishead. When I drive a car I like to listen funk. And always, regardless of the situation, I love any blues and any soul music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Only one, right? So, I climbed on the highest chimney in my family city and I have the best downhill ride ever ;) (yeap, I know, that was illegal and stupid but it was amazing, too).
But jokes aside, one November evening in 2010, I wrote to all mountain shelters in Poland that I would like to become a volunteer. One of them answered and I packed up and just left. It was the best decision of my life.
