About Me
Hey there!
We are Luca and Beata, two travelers on a long and perilous quest to never spend a weekend at home! He is usually the thoughtful one, and she is like the super happy jumpy girl from the Inside Out cartoon movie (minus the blue hairs).
Before moving to Budapest, we could get a nice series of adventures around Europe exploiting every single offer, discount, occasion and all the lookalike available on the market in order to see each other (Luca was living in Italy, Bea was living in Belgium), and when the adult, working life finally kicked in (bummer), we tried to put a bit of salt in our holidays by meeting locals with Couchsurfing and get those unique experiences and tales that no trip or vacation can otherwise gift you.
We could visit fairytales-like villages in Ireland, chit chat with first secours volunteers in Iceland (those who pick you up when you find out that driving in there during winter is less easy than you thought), meet Santa Claus in his workshop in Finland and watch wild dolphins by the cliffs of Normandy...and so many other otherwise impossible fantasies.
And now, we have taken the next step in our traveling life: a trip around the world, always traveling East and staying in the warm part of the planet.
Soon we will give our farewell to Budapest and ultimate our preparations in Tuscany, then we will start our odissey with El Camino de Santiago, to forge our spirits (and our feet) for the long trip ahead of us.
We have also prepared a video with a draft of our destinations, fancy checking it out? ----> https://www.facebook.com/neveraweekendhome/videos/332146224127644/?v=332146224127644
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
At a certain point we realised that most of our conversations with friends and (ex) collegues were about Couchsurfing and all of our related adventures and misadventures.
It became very clear that, despite all of our journeys across Europe and beyond, without Couchsurfing we would have kept a somewhat weaker memory of what we saw, where and when, because there would not have been any "with who".
We met a a very deep person that did not know how to pronounce his name;
we got to know some important cultural elements of India to which we were completely oblivious before;
we discovered that Estonians can be very convincing Fortune Tellers...
...and yet all of this gives the feeling that we did not even scratched the surface of what the world is willing to share, if you are willing to risk a bit of unconfort and embrace the unexpected.
Interests
Luca is taken by games (board, video games...pick any) and storytelling. He considers Blablacar and Open Mic events as bottomless wells of stories to be heard and told.
He is also on a personal quest to taste all kinds of Mead (honey liquor) after an exceptionally good first encounter with it in Brittany, many years ago. So far it is going well.
Bea is an awesome Irish Dancer and she is always planning the next trip (possibly combining the two). She visited once California and mindlessly fell in love with it. Nobody knows what will happen when she will visit New York.
We both consider dogs the best thing in the universe.

Music, Movies, and Books
Probably we could have had a precise answer about the movies we watch before we got our hands on Netflix, but now it is a bit trickier. Let's say we are that kind of people who binge-watch stuff with the company of popcorn and wine.
After long years in the office we deepened our love for Power Metal and Classical music, both necessary tools to bear the stress (and anyone in the office!). Plus, with the help of Youtube suggestions, Luca always find extraordinary soundtracks from videogames (Journey, Gris, Ori and the Blind Forest, Detroit Become Human...) and hilarious metal bands ( Alestorm, Nanowar of Steel, Massacration...), and Bea always manages to discover new emotions by listening to Linkin Park's songs.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Bea held several speeches in front of hundreds of people and she was awesome (Luca did it only once and this is good for the sake of humankind).
Luca once took a night ride across the woods to fight his demons. Then he eventually moved to Budapest with a very special person.
They both took a train across Siberia toward the Baikal lake and then ventured across Mongolia to see how is the weather like, over there.
Teach, Learn, Share
Probably it is redundant to say this because you (yes you, reading this) are already part of CouchSurfing, BUT.
Use extensively the "find event" section of this site and other social platforms (e.g. Meetup), alone or with your friends. This is an awesome way to get immerged into new adventures with (potentially) awesome people who might just give your night an awesome twist, or have more potent repercussion on your life.
In loving memory of Vamos, thou shall not be forgotten.

What I Can Share with Hosts
Irish step moves, tricks and tips how to travel cheap all around the world (including buying plane tickets for a fairly discounted price, for instance).
We are also keeping a blog with stories and descriptions of our journeys, with articles in English, Hungarian and Italian:

We are also on Facebook:

What we cannot share, at the moment, is a couch. Because we are traveling around the world, thus we are objectively unable to host anyone, also because our backpacks are pretty small.
